starting last night i havent been able to log into any servers, it just tells me the connection has timed out. i was able to get into ONE game, but it had a 400 ping and only like 4 people in it so i left,

My wife and I had a similar problem last night. Eventually found one server we could get into. Strange thing was the pings on the server list were pretty normal (60-150) but after the “Server Timed Out” message all the servers came up with pings of 999 and I had to restart the game to get the pings to display correctly. This happened to both of us multiple times.

having similar issues right now

(Skan) #4

I had same problem last night. It’s probably something at steam side - since yesterday I have regular “No connection” alert in steam client, and Im not alone: http://forums.steampowered.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1904550

They know there is problem and investigating it.

Don’t know if it is steam or not. It was working fine for me last week. I started it today, downloaded an update then boom… I can’t connect to any server. every once in a while it will connect me.

(akornoway) #6

It was the patch that was released on monday. It ****ed up almost all the servers apparently.

Still experiencing this problem right now. We’ve been playing for over a week without any difficulty connecting to servers and now most servers time out while trying to connect. Even ones that we’ve played on many times before. First time I encountered this problem was last night.

I have this problem too. I can can join some servers, but not others…

(elrasho) #9

Im still getting the error “The connection to the game session has been lost” at random times on on any server, this is getting beyond a joke. I’ve done port forwarding, increased tcp timout on my O2 Thompson 585 router and enabled PING too.

(Noeyjerd) #10

so… nothing… no fix? no admin helping? no work around? Every time I turn the corner there is something wrong. I had the 360 version but the lag and the fact that it wont connect me to games with people in them so I took it back and got the PC version… All was great with the game except for a stupid no enemy and no sound bug plus not being able to run the settings at max… since the patch the stuff did fix but now I can’t connect to games… wow…

(elrasho) #11

For those who are getting “The connection to the game session has been lost” as random times on on any server, delete the brinkconfig.cfg from G:\Steam\userdata\32262387\22350\local\base and the relaunce the game. It will genreate a new cfg file and I’ve found I don’t get kicked from servers anymore

(Jimmy James) #12

This is a different issue. It’s not a problem with getting kicked from a server. That has never happened to me. It’s that most servers time out while trying to connect to them after the most recent patch.

Spoke to soon, still getting it. Tried connecting to 10 differnet servers and all dispalyed the same thing. What router are you guys using?

(Jimmy James) #14

I’m using a 2Wire router and I’ve forwarded the recommended ports (27015, 27016, & 8766) but I wasn’t having any problems until this most recent patch so I don’t think the router is a factor.

Bought a Netgear N150 and I no longer get “The connection to the game session has been lost” message. Crazy I had to BUY another router just to get this game working, still the O2 Box is pants and I now have Wireless N

(Noeyjerd) #16

… It has nothing to do with routers.

Your problem was different but the original problem posted in this thread started happening recently after the patch.

(MaxiM) #17

I tested this today with Skan and neither of us could connect to our own servers, even though all the ports were forwarded/opened. Something’s fishy here.

(mortis) #18

I don’t seem to have had this issue today. I did notice a quick steam update before I started to play however…

(uskyrt) #19

Same thing here. Started happening after the very first patch.
Basically I cannot play on any server for more than 15-40 secs
If I apply a filter to the servers based on a ping threshold after a few tries on different server the list narrows to <10 servers or none.

It’s like if the game floods the router.

All ports forwarded
Router ThomsonTG585v7
Provider Be*

Would be nice to hear something from SP.
Needless to say it’s the only game I cannot play.

Got a patch when I started Steam. Problem gone.
