can't compile at all! help!

(zeba) #1

So I have been using an old version of radiant and heard how fast q3map2 was, and decided to try to update to it. I have followed the directions (different versions in different ways) but when I try to compile using q3maptoolz or q3map2build, it just flashes a quick dos window. I know it’s some sort of problem like I don’t have the right file in the right directory or something. I downloaded q3map2.exe file from shaderlab, put it in it’s own folder etc tried moving it around, can someone please just spell it out for me? Like where do I put the q3map2 stuff, do I replace old files, etc. Thanks a lot!

you need to grab a copy of msdvc70.dll (I think that’s the name)… it’s a missing dll that needs copying into the q3map2 folder (I can’t recall if there’s a copy in the GTK directory somewhere otherwise you’ll need to google it); not everyone gets this error but you can compile once you’ve done that (I had/have this problem btw)

Hey thanks for thew reply, but nothing at all comes up for that dll name. Are you sure it’s not msvcr71.dll? cause that one is in the folder already. Any clarification? Thanks

ah that’s it… you need msvcr70.dll… search for that and see if you can find it as that’s the missing one… the one you mentioned above is a companion to the missing one

Just for the archives and others searching for this file/error I’ve uploaded a copy of the missing DLL to my site which you can grab from here : http://www.castlekeep.ndo.co.uk/files/msvcr70.zip just extract the zip contents to the q3map2 folder and you’re good to go.
