Binding the melee atack to the mouse wheel (mwheelup) doesn’t work, same goes for some other binds I tested to clarify if it’s a general problem with the mouse wheel.
Can't bind Melee to "Mouse Wheel Up"
Neither works with mousewheel down, damn I hope I could bind the melee in it.
what are you talking about?
works like a charm
bind MWHEELDOWN “say ^1here goes melee attack” “” “default”
bind MWHEELUP “say ^1die already!” “” “default”
lol
bind MWHEELDOWN “_meleeAttack” “” “default”
bind MWHEELUP “_meleeAttack” “” “default”
lol
bind MWHEELDOWN “_melee” “” “default”
bind MWHEELUP “_melee” “” “default”
lol? have you tried it yourself?
bind MWHEELDOWN “_melee” “” “default”
bind MWHEELUP “_melee” “” “default”
Yea I know what the commands are, thats why I also know its NOT working :rolleyes:

Geeh, that helped
/sarcasm
Sorry if that was misunderstandable. I didnt want to mock anybody, it was directed at the poster before me who just gave a “funny” code comment. I posted the right one after but I guess this cant work if it fails already in the gui.
EDIT:
excuse me again:
bind MWHEELDOWN “_meleeAttack”
bind MWHEELUP “_meleeAttack”
this would be the correct code
It’s not just melee. I wanted to bind abilities to mouse wheel up and down. No luck.
My understanding is that SD forgot to port mouse wheel binds to the PC version of Brink when they OBVIOUSLY PORTED THIS GAME FROM THE XBOX VERSION.
obvious console port is obvious.
Ahhh ok i tried it myself now… It just doesnt work and I remember some issues with ETQW. There were certain commands blocked for the mousewheel like crouching, which would be obviously impossible to hold down. Guess its the same thinking behind this.
Guess they want to block ultraquick melee and selecting & deselecting the abilities when spinning it too fast. But thats guessing… Maybe SD can enlighten us:)
/sarcasm off
for those who are still interested in using wheel - it’s still doable with autohotkey.
i use wheel for crouch and melee, works fine
The mouse wheel rolling motions are handled differently than mouse buttons and keys; I believe this was also the case in ETQW.
“_actions” require a key down and a key up pair of events, and the mouse wheel doesn’t deliver these.

in ETQW i had so many things bound to wheel, from stroyup and zoom, to minimap scale change!
while in Brink i honestly don’t see anything useful (not _action) worth binding to wheel.
maybe thats because you guys made everything _action (or cheat)?

Bummer, as my mousewheel can click left and right I was hoping to use mwheel left right down as alternate abilities/dpad.
I have mwheel left/right working fine (as I set to keys via mouse software), but mentioned problem for mwheel down.
It teases me too, letting me set it in both options/controls and also assign it in abilities, but in game no go.
sad panda

How do you do it with autohotkey? I tried using a script like this
WheelUp::
Send k
return
I tried using the Send, SendInput, and SendPlay commands, but with all of them, if I bind an ability to one of these keys, it doesn’t work. However, if I pull down the brink console the appropriate letters are displayed.

#IfWinActive ahk_class Brink
*Wheeldown::
send {PgDn down}
sleep 300
send {PgDn up}
return
*Wheelup::
send {PgUp down}
sleep 100
send {PgUp up}
return
#IfWinActive ; This puts subsequent remappings and hotkeys in effect for all windows.
in brink cfg:
bind “PGUP” “_movedown” “” “default”
bind “PGDN” “_meleeAttack” “” “default”
