Cannot install - BSOD

(colorfulCook) #1

Hi, downloaded, redownloaded and downloaded again. Each time I go to install the game, the game files are corrupt and I get blue screen of death and PC restarting. Verifying local game files does not help either!

Has anybody else had this issue?

What are your system specs? Do you meet the minimum requirements for DB? Could you try installing the game to a different drive?

(colorfulCook) #3

I meet the minimum requirements and more. I have tried installing to both drives that I have. Really at a loss as to what this is.

Get the error code that the BSOD gives you and post it here. What I am looking for is something like 0x0000007A or 0x00000008 type of thing. You can use that code to search dem internets for a solution. When you search remove the duplicate 0s, so your search txt would be something like “0x7A BSOD”

It is unlikely that both drives are failing, but you might want to run chkdisk on them.

Also worth trying sfc /scannow from an elevated cmd prompt if you haven’t.

The error from the BSOD will get us closer to an answer on this, if you can get it.

You can also get that information by running Event Viewer and locating the critical error right before the crash, as windows will try and store the error code there.

Is this happening for any other games? Could you attempt to install another game in your library and see if the same issue happens?

Is that any good? Excuse the ciggy bits!

Bug check 0x50 usually occurs after the installation of faulty hardware or in the event of failure of installed hardware (usually related to defective RAM, be it main memory, L2 RAM cache, or video RAM).

Another common cause is the installation of a faulty system service.

Antivirus software can also trigger this error, as can a corrupted NTFS volume.

  1. Run install after disabling antivirus
  2. Run memtest http://www.memtest86.com/
  3. Run chkdisk on harddrive(s) http://www.howtogeek.com/howto/windows-vista/guide-to-using-check-disk-in-windows-vista/

Yes, can anyone give me a simple explination on how to fix this?

(Ardez1) #13

@colorfulCook Any chance you could give them the link you used to fix it?

The link may not work for you two, but no harm in trying it.

try doing this:

The following steps will assist you in obtaining and saving the requested information.

Press Win (Windows Key) + R
Type in dxdiag in the text area of the popup
Press enter, and if prompted about verifying WHQL, select Yes.

If you are on a 64-bit machine, click on "Run 64-bit DxDiag"
If not, then continue on

Wait for the green bar to finish loading.
Click on "Save All Information" and save the file to your Desktop for convenience
