Cannot connect to any server

(ReverendBaka) #1

I haven’t been able to connect to any multiplayer server since the game went live. I can play offline and the game runs fine, and my internet is working fine for other games, but when I try to join a server I sit at the Waiting for Host screen while the tutorial sound clip plays.

Once the clip ends, I get sent back to the server list. There is no error message or any other sort of indication something went wrong. It just doesn’t connect. I’ve tried opening specific ports and using DMZ but nothing has fixed the problem. It’s done it with every server I have tried, and I have tried quite a few.

Anyone else having this problem or know how to fix it?

disabled local firewall for testing? yes, the m$ buildin fw too.

try to ping some of the servers

START -> RUN (or WinKey + R)

ping SERVER-IP

every ping unsuccessfull (try a few server, not only one):

tracert SERVER-IP

does your provider (or router) blocking ports?

edit: i see the brink servers are not responding to connects via telnet, forget below, i keep it there “for future generations”

got an ip of a random server?

try if you can create a dummy connect via

telnet SERVER-IP SERVER-PORT

example:

telnet 207.46.19.254 80

that way you can check your connection to the server, connection error msg shows that your connection can’t be established even from the os side out.
to see what it looks like if a connection can be established, try the example. (it differs from always a little, it’s just an example)

on vista and 7 you need to install telnet via your “programs and functions” “windows functions …” install the telnet-client.
do NOT INSTALL the TELNET-SERVER
