Cancelling revivr charge with weapon switch after the MOFO update

(wrt) #1

I’m usually cancelling Sparks’s revivr charge by switching to melee. After the MOFO update, holding down revivr and switching to any weapon now results to that weapon being fired after the switch. This is especially annoying because swinging bat/knife in the middle of a firefight screws my movement. I’m thinking it’s probably because of this update:

Gameplay[/b]

  • Holding down the fire key and then switching to an ability will now activate that ability

I tried fiddling with some settings but couldn’t really find anything that could revert this change. I’m so used to cancelling revivr charge by switching to my bat this update is making it really hard for me to play Sparks anymore

What’s the point behind this gameplay change and can I somehow change it back to the way it was?

One thing I have to say is this:

Cancelling the REVIVR shot isn’t much different from just firing it. I think you will most likely just have to learn to live with it. :frowning:

i always just shoot it at walls too, why wiggle with keys when you can just relase your finger ?

Just shoot the REVIVR and then switch. This is what I do most of the time

Switching to melee has the benefit of both cancelling the shot and instantly gaining melee run speed at the press of a single button. Being punished with a forced melee swing when your intention was to cancel and quickly reposition is very annoying. On a server with FF on (pugs, scrims, tournaments, ranked), it would be awkward to have to aim away from a cluster of teammates (and back again) just because you decided to cancel your shot.

(sparks silent nerf)

when is the next Sparks nerf sempai?

Honestly I feel like it was the biproduct of patching a bug that they just kind of gave up on and played off as a feature. It makes absolutely no sense as to why you’d want to change something so basic when everyone is used to it, and then change it for the worse on top of that.

(wrt) #8

There’s a world of difference in cancelling the revivr charge rather than shooting it. Effective Sparks has to pretty much constantly move in order to dodge bullets, get them revives and prepare the next revivr charge from a better position.

Switching to siderarm to cancel revivr still works somewhat ok as the gun doesn’t immidiately fire after the switch. But it still sucks as most are used to switching to melee

@wrt Then why don’t they start to release their shots instead? It will take of only a fraction of time, and if they shoot close to them, enemies won’t be able to tell where you are from the tracer.

heres how to fix it apparently
