can you use the sounds from rtcw?

is it legal to use the sounds from rtcw? can u modify them to make them legal?

ps: i do know its illegal to use models and textures from rtcw onto et, or anyother game.

No and no.

Sound is no different to any other asset in this respect, all parts of RTCW are protected by the EULA and copyright law.

ummm, a few of the stock ET maps use some rtcw textures…

And you’re welcome to use those, but you are not welcome to copy additional ones from your own paid-for RTCW installation and redistribute them for free with your map. The ones that are packaged with ET are okay, anything you have to copy from another game is not.

I dont understand why its a problem. People made a whole bunch of maps for RTCW using map packs and whatnot…so now wecant recompile those maps to play in ET?? Thats BS. Like they are going to sue a mapper who made a map for free for people to play in a free game. Cripes…USE THE SOUND friend…and use whatever textures your little heart desires. :beer:

Maybe if you had an education about the law, you would know that copyright law has nothing to do with stealing a physical copy of a video game. Its an entire different issue, and a gray issue. Im not making ANY money off this map, nor is any other mapper. They do this to the benefit of SD and Activision and ID and the people who enjoy playing this game. Its very similar to the Good Samaritan law…you cant sue someone who is trying to help you, if they hurt you.
