P. S. also restore Defender/Attacker icons, thanks.
Can you remove deploy delay at last?
Maybe this has something to do with map loading and stuff? If this is for no reason, it would be better to remove it.
Map is loading during splash screen and you are able preview it briefly before loadout screen pops out. Deploy timer doesn’t make any sense to me.
P.S. not talking about neccessary loading time when map starts, my rant is about joining game in progress.
You can bypass deploy timer by going spectator -> esc -> change team instead of locking in so… yeah.

Good to know, this can shave off about 10 secs from those 15. Deploy timer is still redundant though.
I can only agree with this. And this is even more aggravating in execution mode (yes, I actually like execution mode, deal with it). When I join a match in progress, I will almost certainly lock in right after the wave deploys, and I’m stuck spectating a round when I could have easily been in it.
The deployment delay makes as much sense as shitting in a microwave.
as far as I know the deployment timer is to synchronize you with all other players on the server. It’s not useless, even if you see it so. And if it would be useless, SD would’ve patched it out a long time ago.
@SereneFlight My own experience showed me the bypass does not work all the time and sometimes even makes the waiting time longer because the respawn times freezes at 00:00 for 10-15 seconds.
They could take that time they delay your deploy and move it to post match where you get your credits and see how you did.
I’ve said this about like a million times:
SD says that the deploy timer is for the player to sync up their loadouts, skins, weapons and whatnot with the server and other players.
There is a shortcut to skip the deploy time by pressing the spectator button under the chatbox and it will put you in spectator mode. From there you can press esc. and choose a team and you’re in-game playing. But as I mentioned before, the 15 seconds deploy time is meant to sync your information to the server, so doing this shortcut will result in initial lag and the slow load in textures.

If you can bypass it and not have something fuck up on the server then there’s obviously no need to wait 15 seconds. In no other game I play that has loadouts does it need to delay your innitial spawn in.
There a way to bypass this (sort of) by joining spectator and it immediately drops you in instead of waiting 15-20 seconds but you risk losing your spot on the team you were on.
I wouldn’t mind having picmip’ed textures for a few secs (usually, you need some time to reach the frontline anyway) and I don’t think there is much to sync tbh. If players had a choice, I doubt anyone would prefer waiting.
@Jostabeere we still have bugged HS lights, which should’ve been patched out long time ago
I never knew why do we have this 15 seconds deploy time thing. And it took me a while to find out defenders are on the bottom and attackers are on the top, I agree about both - Let you know what team you are on and remove the deploy time

Okay, but do we really need to look at the lobby at that time? Can’t they allow us to spectate the game instead?
As @Jostabeere says you’re kinda gambling a bit when you do this, sometimes you’ll drop in right away, other times you can be waiting what seems like an eternity (at least 22 seconds) before you can spawn, even though it says you can. I stopped doing it because it’s really annoying when it doesn’t work.
It used to be much much worse back in the day. You do have to wait because players/textures/cards/etc. all load in very slow. The reason for this is to prevent any huge lag spikes on server when players join a game. Especially for people running potatoes which is fairly common in MP PC gaming and F2P games specifically. Even if you have a beastly computer along with the slow loading in of assets there are still minor FPS spikes whenever somebody joins (I recorded a video showing this a while back).
So it sucks but I doubt they can shave anymore time off of it than they have and keep the experience in the same ballpark.

How can you tell?
As far as I understand it, each loadout card comes with a model and several assets. They are streamed in on demand.
When you connect and lock in your loadouts, all other players have to load your models and textures, while at the same time, they’re still playing the game.
With the 15 second cooldown, their hardware doesn’t have to push that hard to pull a model out of nowhere. Without the cooldown, the load has to happen in an instant, causing lag for all players when someone joins.
That’s the standing theory, though. I can’t verify this myself, neither can you.
