At least for me? I hate them, and since you can not reroll your missions thats pretty screwed up, because I am forced to play the mercs I simply don’t like…
Can you please remove 7,5k game mode xp mission?
Stop throwing yourself blindly at the objective and you might start enjoying it. It’s such a common thing for engineers to just ignore all the dangers around them and PTFO as hard as they can, big mistake! Not to mention how frustrating it is to die repeatedly, don’t understand how they can keep on doing it.
Or just play defense on an EV map and throw air strikes all day long.
I doubt they’ll give you the option to turn off the missions you don’t want from rotation as that would defeat the point of missions and be exploitable. As in I would only take 1000 credit missions, probably just with total XP with my favorite mercs, get all 3 done in one or two matches.
Have to admit I usually skip all but the lowest game mode exp missions because they just take so much longer than something like support or combat exp.

That’s it man! 4,5k game mode xp mission i can complete in 3-5 games, but 7,5k? That is waaaaaay too much.
Focus on EV missions. On defense, long defense bonuses + airstrikes to kill the ev rack up game mode xp pretty reliably. On offense, simply escorting the ev will get a decent amount of xp, and repping it will get even more (though it is less reliable).
Game mode xp on other maps is hard to come by. Focusing on secondary objectives helps, but it takes a lot of luck or skill to get the main plant or defuse.
I think game mode missions are bad for the game, since they are pretty much against team play, because only 1 person can earn game mode xp at a time through damaging/repairing.
The only game mode xp shared by team is the long defense bonus or escorting the EV, the attackers don’t gain any xp throughout the game, I feel like every objective should give attackers a nice amount of shared xp or reward it to the defenders by the end of the game.
Instead of game mode xp, I’d like to see assists added to the KD ratio and make a assist type missions, where you get rewarded xp for the mission by damaging enemy players that at least one of your allies has damaged, increased “staying together” xp while you cover your ally who is repairing/planting/defusing. Something that would promote the team play in this game instead of being a super merc to plant/defuse/repair/damage everything himself just a few seconds sooner than his allies.
I’d like to see game mode missions be removed/changed as it’s just YOU being the whole team and gaining that xp for a mission is near impossible when u have 4 more engineers running for generators or whatever and a whole team of fire support already aiming for that EV as soon as it’s repaired.
I don’t mind the way game mode xp is gained, but for missions, I’ll see my friendly engineer run onto a mine, into airstrike or let him stay downed if I can be the one to get that EV/generator repaired as I need my game mode xp for the mission.

Game mode experience are the easiest xp of them all to get. Those are usually my first one’s to be achieved. Especially on maps with EV I’m either always the one repairing it, or destroying it. You just need the proper class. It’s so easy I was always wondering why the requirments were so low, but I guess it’s because of people like you…
I also dislike game mode xp missions, because they are the most annoying to get. You have to play a lot with a class i don’t really like (engi) and on maps with ev otherwise (chapel is nice but i really dislike bridge) on defense. Support and Combat missions are so much easier to complete, since i always main a medic in my team anyway
Go Arty, play Bridge/Chapel, done in one game. Like come on guys we can’t remove every mission type.
I love when people say “go play skyhammer or arty and blow everything up”. Do you guys think I am the only one using those 2 mercs? The xp you can get from damaging ev is limited.
I don’t want to remove game mode missions completely. All I am saying is it would be nice if we could at least reroll them.

The EV destroying example, the easiest way to gain game mode xp, I can agree on that, but the point is, it will not be that easy if there are 3-4 more skyhammers/artys on you team as only the first one to damage it first will gain the game mode xp, so if you’re aiming an artillery on top of the EV while friendly skyhammers airstrike is already coming in, you will most likely not gain any xp if the EV is destroyed in one go.
Sure it’s easy to gain the game mode xp when there aren’t many mercs on your team that fill the same role, but when there’s competition, it’s you vs the enemy team and your own team, that’s why I dislike the idea of game mode missions in a team based game, as your objective is to play solo in a team game and rush the objectives before your team does.
@Dracorion
I really never experienced it that way. Usually people shy away from objectives. I rarely have any trouble doing them as I said. Especially since I can plant, defuse, escort, capture the forward spawn, destroy, repair and even just stick close to the objective to get defending XP as well as just playing well as defender will give you periodically 200 xp. And let’s not forget the 1000 xp from delivering an objective.
There’s an insane amount of game mode xp out there to be gotten in pretty much every single game. People just don’t focus on it enough. An even if they would, there would still be plenty around for everyone.

I truly love these guys though. When I play an engineer I tend to clear the way and give myself time to plant. However, this means I get hung up at times or killed. A person who is dedicated to rushing over and over again tends to win games on pubs a lot both on offense and defense. Two rushing engineers with no real care for living or dying tends to make me pretty happy haha. I too don’t know how they can do it but I salute them!
As for the mission just wait until you get on offense of Underground or offense of Chapel and try to do side objectives. I tend to run Bushwhacker and play a typical offensive role while also doing engineering stuff along the way. Keeps things fun for me while helping the team.

I can agree with all of that, but game mode missions are supposed to make players (want to) focus on the objectives just like combat missions should focus you on eliminating enemies and support missions should make you focus on reviving/healing/deploying ammo.
While the other missions(Combat and Support) come naturally, Game Mode missions require YOU to be the one to complete it and when you’re defending with a strong team and enemy team manages to complete no objectives at all, you’re just stuck with the long defense xp for your game mode mission.
I mean, just today, it took me 3-4 games to get a mere 4.5k game mode xp, just because there were some engineers with faster movement speed than my merc or the enemy team attacking didn’t complete a single objective(1st obj bridge GG).(I tried my best to rush objectives)
I’d love to see some statistics, to find out which of these missions get abandoned the most (Combat/Game mode/Support), as I do feel that there should be more experimenting with these missions while the game is still in beta.
Secondary objective missions were a great example, you only earned anything from constructing/destroying the objective, nothing from defusing or damaging, making it only earnable to player finishing it, even when they only provided 10% or less effort to complete it.

Instead of rereolling I don’t see why we couldn’t get an option to downgrade the missions. Say you get a 1000 credit mission for gamemode XP, you can downgrade that to a 750 credit mission, and then again to 500 credits if you don’t have time to complete them. Could allow upgrading again if you miss clicked. But you wouldn’t be able to upgrade beyond what the original mission was. So if you’re original mission was at 750 credits, you could downgrade to 500 credits, and back up to 750 again, but not to a 1000 credits.

I don’t mind them when we have enough firepower to still clear out and just let them do the objective. But when we’re against a superior team and they just keep not contributing in any way because they can’t even reach the EV, that’s when it’s super frustrating. It’s like they put on a dog collar and tunnel vision in a straight line towards the objective, never getting there, then complain in chat about lack of support. Now that grinds my gears.
Well, I guess I don’t mind too much since I typically have no issues with being the firepower and clearing the road for them to not be lemmings
Yeah, and while at it, they should remove the total xp missions too. I mean cmon, they expect me to play too. Also it wouldn’t be so bad if there wasn’t this jigsaw trap on my head that would explode if I deleted missions I don’t like
The whole point of the missions, besides earning you credits, is to force you out of your comfort zone and try something different.

I guess by different they mean pressing that cross on the upper right corner of the missions…
