md3? it’s a model format… i bet you mean mp3?
well, you could… the same way you can add normal speakers
if i’m not wrong here you would have to convert your mp3 into wav
first, before the game engine can handle it. as i said, i might be wrong
here.
have a look into the ldr (see sticky topic ‘tuts and resources’). you’ll
find a short intro on the ingame speaker editor there. this will allow
you to place speakers in your map. you can insert speakers in your
map within radiant too if you want to trigger them, e.g. make a radio
the player can turn on and off…
If you’re going to add music, please add something good.
The music in Supply Depot, for example, makes my accurracy like 20% worse…
Ok. it doesn’t, but it sure makes me wanna finish quick and move to the next map.
Yeah, and keep it WWII if you can (unless the map is for a mod). Personally, I can’t see much Aerosmith, or Extreme being lashed out around the barracks.
The first time I walked into the bedroom at the Northpole it was truly a sight to behold. It was full of people from both teams dancing to ZZ Top, a real party atmosphere, complete with smoke! There was even 2 guys prone on the bed gettin freaky with it. Admittedly after a while I wanted to kill the Axis field op who kept turning it back on, but it was fun while it lasted. Eventually I ended up being the attention-seeker sulking outside, pondering the cruelty of jock party-goers.
But generally my point is this. Music is good in games if it’s well done. I like the way it’s used in Venice. Music in general is good. Like in my above example, it brought warring factions together at Christmas, and it was one of the most fun times I have had playing ET.
But music can also be very bad. On that note, did you know that David Hasslehoff claims he was partly responsible for the fall of the Berlin Wall (via his “music”). I shit you not!!! Look here: http://www.ananova.com/news/story/sm_860540.html?menu=news.quirkies
Music is a powerful thing…
I’m addicted to music, first thing I do when I enter my parents car (year and a half 'till I can start learning for a licensce, Jawhol! Yes! Exccellent!) is to turn on the radio.
When I’m on the computer I also have music most of the time.
It’s just too boring without it.
music also bloats the downloads, pisses people off due to file size, helps crash ET because of the size limit on total pk3s, and can breach copyright
Nobel peace prize awarded to David Hasselhoff? What is the world comming to?
You may wanna talk to Tasian about this, he put music in his map also.
“Peanut butter Jelly, Peanut butter Jelly, Peanut butter Jelly and a baseball bat”
map was called Chateu Voileguarde if you wanna download it.
(go to the steel door where you have to take the truck and hit the button in the middle of the door then explore)
He actually put two songs on there, dont know what the other one is, some 80s rock music.
We always used to go dance in the room on my clan server, it was a cease fire zone, anyone who killed someone in the room got kicked. lol. fun.
If you cant get hold of Tasian go to Goats Bar & Grill, I hear hes usually on there.
