Can we get rid of the spectator function

([ *O.C.B.* ] Wildcard) #21

@sweetColumn well if they were to do it themselves actively is more what I was referring to by the demorec and it wouldn’t be something you could switch to. In honesty though it would probably streamline the process a bit as they’d already have all the data they need to decide on each report made ahead of time via a recording of each game.

Plus, all this aside, I was pointing out that in its current state it does indeed put one team down a player as stated by @Kelben. As such it is an issue that needs to eventually be addressed and tended to (especially if they ever plan to have a launch version and ditch the “open beta” tag).

When you press the Tab key to show the scoreboard just look at the very bottom. If there are any spectators their names will be displayed there.

spectator slot shouldn’t simply take the server slot for players who want to play the match full stop. Removing the feature is not necessary, just tweaking it. Then you will not even need to vote for kicking spectators.

HLTV kind of approach with practically unlimited spectators would also support the competitive scene. You would not need things like twitch tv etc.

I kinda have to agree with him? Why do people want something that has no real purpose that negatively affects the game to stay?

I think it should be disabled till they actually fix it.

Do we need spectators? I mean if you really think someone is hacking then just report him/her and move on…if it’s a real case then they will ban that account and the hacker will move onto a new account.

I had a game a while back where we were having a good game then suddenly two people on my team decided to troll us and go spectator so a well matched game went to a 5v7 loss.

Just disable it till they can actually fix it…

That would indeed help things, but HLTV already has its quirks and its been out for a decade now. But to integrate something like that would take a lot of work on demo recording and playing.
Sounds quite ridiculous to move it entirely, would suffice to lower the amount of votes needed to kick spectator drastically and actually display the needed votes right, seeing theres a visual bug considering that.

It does work just fine when enough votes are reached, spectators are kickable.
To what…1 or 2 people? You can’t tell me you don’t notice how often votes go ignored or unnoticed? Doesn’t matter if it’s 8 or 4…often votes will go incomplete.

Not to mention how people on the full team will gladly vote no just to keep a uneven game.

Thats entire different issue, how noticeable the vote box is. They could also rework is through simply playing much more prominent sounds when its displayed. Which, I don’t know, new sounds are also coming up in a next update so who knows.

Sure I can’t speak of anyone else than me personally, but I’m pretty sure IF everyone noticed the vote and the reason to it (also something to definitely NEEDED to add to votes), there’d be very rarely an entire team of insecure twats who want win at such intensity in an absolutely insignificant pub match, that they all vote “no” to kick the spec. So lowering the amount from 50% of the server to something like 30-40% (in a 16 person server thats from 4-6 “yes” votes needed depending how you round the numbers) could be sweet start as long as voting itself is also made much more noticeable.

Hell you could even slap voting on tutorial at the end of it as something like "Vote yes if you want to continue to Assault course directly, or no if you want to hop in a match ", without letting you out before you do so (or be an idiot and force crash the entire application just to skip one mere vote but what are you gonna do about those peeps anyway). Shows instantly whats this box, what are the options and how to vote.

@bontsa

For that tutorial idea to work you’d need to make the tutorial mandatory , which is another problem this game has.

But even if more people know how to vote that doesn’t change the fact that the opposing team may vote no because they want a easier game. People vote no all to often on swaps because these cowards want to sit in their comfy 3v7 farmfest because they want a easy win.

Right now the best idea is just to disable it till it’s fixed.

We agree on the rework-required part of votes, but can conclude to agree to disagree on this part then. Because no, it just doesn’t work like that, “remove if it doesnt work 100% optimally”, in terms of a functionality like this that is the only option for certain activities at the moment (like recording footage of script kiddos)

You make it sound like it may slow down people performance a little when someone spectates…being down a person when it counts causes losses.

If someone causes you to lose just because it’s there and trolls can easily exploit this…it should be disabled till it’s fixed.

The point is, the need for a spectator function with the current system does by far not outweigh the disadvantages of the inbalanced games it causes. Like someone already said, if you suspect someone of hacking, report him.

Adding a proper spectator mode to the game is a project of its own, which I guess has no priority right now. So dont add temporary solutions for an outdated spectator mode, like spectator slots or a lowered and correct displayed vote, which probably will be buggy again and cause even more problems.

There is absolut no need for spectating right now, it only causes problems and SD shouldnt waste resources on a temporary solution. Disable it and work on a DBTV when you have time and resources to do it properly.

Can we add a “spectate the enemy function”?

(AlphaUT) #33

Result: Need more money.

(Tanker_Ray) #34

No. but I agree with the part it takes one vacancy for the team, and lacking one guy cause lots of problem.

I would rather just request proper ‘Kill Cam’ function just like in OW to SD.
