Can we get only U.S. Central servers for Ranked?

The U.S. West servers are killing me. The lag is insane, constant teleporting, late hit registration, etc… I’m a U.S. East player and Central/East servers are fine with pings around 30-80 for me, but once it tops 80, things get weird, and over 100, much worse.

I’d like to see more U.S. Central servers so everyone has a better ping? Most games I get into, people have pings over 80-100 (excluding the SA players who are upwards of 150) on U.S. West servers. Now the game says it’s choosing the best server, but is this not based on location?

It’s been bothering me a lot because it can mean the difference between winning and losing.

It’s the ISP switching. Did you record the time of day when it happened? It could have been peak periods and I reckon if it happens frequently, then you should avoid playing ranked in that time of day

Agreed. When I’m in Kentucky or Tennessee, I’ve noticed that Central servers based out of TX are a lot more stable for me in multiple games I’ve played over the years. I’m not sure why this is, though? Ping is similar compared to a lot of East ones in Florida, Columbus, and New York despite some being further away and closer compared to TX. Central often works best for me when I’m playing out of Nevada as well. It has to be about the amount of people connected concurrently or something. Who knows? Way too many people live out west and the northeast. Caged animals living in a circus with constant power outages and unstable Internet.

Happens at all times. I thought it was just my internet, but other people were complaining about the same issues in these ranked matches. It’s been like this for a while though. Ever since the Nexon split, these problems haven’t gone away when my ping gets over 100. Other people with high pings have also become much harder to hit as the teleport randomly (again, been happening since the Nexon split).

Just figured some more centralized servers might help the issue and make ranked games more fair.

It could be prioritised traffic then. Game packets (usually ICMP) are usually categorised lower in terms of traffic management over real-time data (voice for example). You might want to look for another ISP that doesn’t have ICMP categorisation.
