Can we get a server with friendly fire on?

(Violator) #21

Not been on there for a while - I thought they were reserved for drafts these days?

(RasteRayzeR) #22

Well, they are reserved servers for the VIP. We happen to use them fro drafts also

(AssortedStuff) #23

I am also in favour of ‘friendly fire’ on.
Could be interesting having it as a voting element as players are waiting in the lobby.

(Mustang) #24

We keep having a vote on this, and pretty much everyone agrees it should be turned on, but every update it gets disabled again…

(Loffy) #25

FF off makes us sloppy. Grr.

(PixelTwitch) #26

the concern is that there is no punishment system in place yet so nothing to stop someone just mowing down his team mates for the fun of it.

+Most TK’s reward!!!

(MrFunkyFunk) #28

The community being so small, I don’t think people acting like dicks with FF on will last long.
We used to have FF on the public server once (and a long time ago from a bug: explosions damaged allies) and it never got out of hand.

It could become one with the Nexon client allowing name changing so easily but SD has the logs.

(RasteRayzeR) #29

That’s why I said “a few” public servers. Not all. But there will be kick vote options for sure in the future.

(AssortedStuff) #30

Although I’m still in favour of friendly fire on I must say that lately it would have been harmful for my team, as I seem to have been firing on them more than I should.
Like mentioned before, there needs to be some sort of punishment system in place.

(shaftz0r) #31

the punishment should be damage to your teammates… thats sort of the point. dont rape your own team in the back of the head

That’s the whole point of FF.
The gameplay changes and it’s a lot less “spammy”, no more airstrikes/mines/nades/etc everywhere, no more cutting allies lines of fire, less spray in every direction, …
It’s an option on a few servers we ask for, not make it default (oh I wish) but I’m sure it will help with the current messy pace of the game that can drive some new players away.

I’m against a manual punition system because it’s too easy for some people to just act recklessly, suffer no consequences and punish someone else on a flinch without leaving them a chance to apologize.
(eg: Airstrike marker or molotov on the ground? Let me run into it, give you a warning or slay you for your service. Facing a group of enemies in a corridor? Allow me to cut your sustained line of fire to try to grab the kills, die then transform you into a beeping disco ball for everyone to see where you are on the map).

Actually the big concern is trolling…

(k0k0nat) #34

I dont think trolling will be a big deal within this small number of beta testers

(MrFunkyFunk) #35

And like I said: we used to have FF and there never was an issue.
Now if people act as adults it will never be a problem with so few testers like it used to be (problem is that some believe they are incognito with fake names).

(PixelTwitch) #36

your forgetting the thousands of _cc players that are now in the game >.<

(k0k0nat) #37

The are almost gone.
The last two weeks i have seen few of them.

And the last bits of _cc players in the game were pretty nice, not the typical Adaptors

They are looking to get up to 6000 cc players for the 24 of may … just sayin’

(MrFunkyFunk) #39

If they managed to get more than 10 of those cc players online at any given time we wouldn’t have to worry about them joining the only server with people online (and them not having an enjoyable experience with veterans). They could fill normal servers and be warned before joining a “veteran / friendly fire on” server.

I already have a hard time understanding how we only ever manage to get one and half server active with hundreds of normal testers (and it has always been the case), so don’t try to tell me there are thousands of _cc somewhere out there

short answer ‘time zones’
