Can we get a proper melee merc?

I need to get something out of the way first…
Listen, Phantom isn’t a melee merc, anyone who plays him like that is using him wrong. Not only are you giving him a bad reputation with that stupid katana, your just not using him the way he was designed. CR51 phantoms are arguably the best loadout due to the way it forces you to play him in a way that benefits the team. Point being, stop trying to melee with Phantom.

Now with that out if the way I want to point out some viable melee mercs.

Kira: The katana loadouts are very powerful in the right hands, combining speed and damage to quickly strike down enemies and get away unscathed. She’s a very useful fire support who can wipe a team while resupplying her own. And that’s what she should focus on, not lone wolfing and stabbing people through the chest. But if your in a pinch, Kira’s your girl.

Sparks: the most embarrassing way to die is to be slapped in the face with a piece of wood by a tiny little Russian woman

So there are certainly more out there like Redeyes quickslash/chopper combo but I’m not going to mention everything. The point I want to bring is that all these mercs already have a critical role that they have to play. And at this point if your playing melee in a competitive match (pretty much anything not in casual) your hindering your team by not acting upon your assigned role.

So, can we get a melee character as a DPS? One that’s fast and nimble, but dishes out plenty of damage? There’s a certain character that I take inspiration from when I think of this and it’s the assassin from lawbreakers. Her base stats give her one of the weakest health pools in the game but allow them to be the fastest. They gain health regenerating by dealing damage during their ultimate to keep them alive while dishing out damage. Something like this would be great in this game. I love melee in dirty bomb and id like to see more if it. With the addition of the combat axe even more possibilities are out there

I know this post isn’t laid out very well, but as a student I only have so much time to write things down and I wanted to get this out there before I forgot about it. Let me know what you all think

I’ve heard that back then Phantom used to be a melee based merc (if im right then he had the ability to lunge forward and only had secondary’s as weapons). SD decided that melee Phantom wasn’t a good thing and changed him. I wouldn’t expect SD to make a melee based merc because of this.

Ive made idea of this type of merc before (check - “Banzai”, about 15 discussions below your): He has very powerful melee ability combined with slight speed boost but has weak main weapons (machine pistols) and low health, so he is intended to be used as single-target melee DPS but is rather weak against more than one enemy and at longer distnaces.
