Can we get a colour-blind mode? :3

Title pretty much says it all. For telling team-mates from enemies it’s fairly easy, due to the markers being above their heads (or not). However, things get a little harder when it comes to deployables.

Currently, I’m going through a stage of shooting every proxy mine I see - just in case it’s an enemy one. Same goes with Fletcher grenades and Bushwhacker turrets… It would be nice to be able to tell these apart without having to do this, because while it only takes a split second to shoot and check - it wastes ammo and a fraction of time that could be used to help my team (not to mention, it does get a little annoying after a while XD).

It isn’t a major issue, but I would love if we could have a colour-blind friendly option (ie. changing the team colours to Blue and Yellow, Purple and Yellow, Green and Blue, or perhaps other selections of colours to help those with different degrees or variations of colour blindness).

It effects on average, 30% of people in at least some scale (others much less severe than others). So it would be nice to see an option for this in game… Pleeeeeeeeeeease Splash Damage? <3

No one wants to join me in asking for this? Ok…

-forever alone- :c

I think being able to choose how teams are highlighted gives the potential for abuse, unless SD were to set a couple different color options they still found fair that users could choose from.

Personally I have a little trouble seeing certain colours as well, so I feel you. But even without that issue, certain maps like Trainyard which is very orangey in color-cast, makes it difficult to track orange-highlighted enemies. I wouldn’t mind having this option in-game.

@Mercy Yeah, I understand your point. Preferably, it would be nice if everyone had access to some sort of pre-set colour options as I suggested. Like: Blue and Yellow. Purple and Yellow. Pink and Green. Green and Blue… etc. Common ones that are confused with different types of colour-blindness. ^.^

It is already possible to change, but it would be really nice if you could change to preset colours in the ingame DB UI for the teams to suit your liking or to help against colour-blindness. As you can see in this video everything team related is either purple or yellow, even the lights on the turrets, the ground effects for the aura stations, airstrike markers etc.

That’s spectator mode.

i dont actually have any colour blind issues but id still love this feature because for some reason the designers decided to make the top tier cosmetic blue, ie the colour of one team!
so enemies in this cosmetic look far too much like my team members for me.

LMAO, oh God… it makes me laugh so much when people make the “but if colour blind people can see colour better, it gives them an advantage over everyone”.

Please research into how the condition actually works before making statements like this. I think it’s very rude and unwarranted.

A friend of mine also mentioned this! The fact that Cobalt = Blue, and your team = Blue… makes very little sense :s Hope to hear something about a custom colour setting soon or something >.<

Hey didn’t someone posted a ini/console command, that sets the colors for the team names and the glow around players. Maybe someone else remembers those settings or a search finds that tread.

(stealthyCaper) #12

Only the colors for the overhead nametags in the UI, and text in chat. Not for the ‘team glow’.

For the record, they are in ShooterUI.ini, and are called

[ShooterGame.SGUIHUDIFFObjectAlly]
[ShooterGame.SGUIHUDIFFObjectEnemy]
for nametags (icons over deployables are unchanged)

and
[ShooterGame.SGUIMenuChatLog]
For Neutral, Ally and Enemy chat lines

+1 for OP
Colorblind mode should be here for people with this impairment. Us who are luckier and don’t suffer from this should not leave others aside. I would like to think that having colorblind mode is getting into more and more games…
