Not all games have a demo though.
LyndonL, it’s not being entitled asking for a demo. It’s more than sensable to ask to be able to try before you buy. I know that it may not be the case for you either because your a younger person or an adult with a fair salary but some, if not most, people don’t have a lot of money. Some people, like myself, barely have enough to pay off the important stuff, yet alone spending money on a game. In fact I very rarely buy games, as I just don’t have the money for it. £40-50 is a lot of money to spend on something, it’s way to much money to spend on something that may or may not reach ones expectations.
But then again, I wouldn’t expect you to understand, as your comment shows just how closed minded you are. :)
Uuuhhh, I took LyndonL’s comment as a response to the comments suggesting that Demo’s were for using the public is guinea pigs, or Feelgood suggesting that it’s possible that Splash Damage knows the game is going to suck, and they don’t want to hurt their initial sales.
So, yeah… reading comprehension ftw.

Already preordered on steam.
I don’t think SD is hiding something. I’m pretty sure they are very proud of their product. Many new games don’t feature a demo.
If movement proves to be as slow as the videos show, i’ll probably not play this competitively simply because it would turn out to be a spamfest of grenades and whatnot. I’m wagering that SD does the right thing and either patches movement speed or allows for modding if that is the case.
Then theres SMART, and sure it might be nice. But my idea of freedom of movement differs slightly.
that is a sweet video and extremely impressive.
i doubt they will change the speed of the game. it’s not a twitch shooter. i’m not sure why it can’t still be competitive though. wasn’t socom extremely tactical and not so twitchy? i seem to remember it being highly competitive and very popular at that time.
on the topic of a demo…people seem to treat demos as an early pass to the game. that’s fine and everything, but some people like to try before they buy. video games can be complex products. what you see isn’t always what you get. and it’s not like you can return it like a knife that didn’t perform like advertised. even worse for pc players that can’t even get trade value.
i’d like a demo or i’ll have to wait for reviews. and reviews aren’t friendly towards new ip’s…or non-call of duty games. i can’t remember the last time i payed full price for a game. i’m content to wait to see if brink is worth it. a demo would help wink wink

Wow. This just basically sums up what really irks me. I never once said demo. I’m all for them releasing a demo. I’d love it! Get the word out to all the people!
I said demanding a public beta is where the false entitlement comes from. People demand a beta and treat it as a demo. That was never the intention of betas. Betas are for testing a product in the hope to fix it ready for final release. It’s an unpolished item. A demo is a polished final representation of what you will be buying. It’s AFTER the beta phase.
The fact that you read beta and interpretted it as demo shows me how closed minded YOU are.
It’s not his fault. The publishers don’t seem to know the difference anymore either, and so the terms have become interchangable bby the masses.
(Also, were you trying to triple italicize?? :))
Gotta agree with ya here.
“There not doing what I want them to do, they must be doing something underhanded or sumfin”
There should be a demo for their own sake. I have plenty friends to play with so it’s not going to hurt me if their sales suffer.
