Can the Radeon HD 3870 512MB GFX Card run Brink?

(kenziebros) #1

I bought Brink on Steam on the 50% of weekend yesterday and after instalation obiously my GFX card wasn’t supported so I went onto the internet and found a GFX card which is part of the minimum specs; The Radeon HD 3870 (Not the 'x2). Will this run Brink well or will I have to play with low settings.

Thanks, Kenzie

Im not sure if that card is able to run brink., but if it is I´m pretty sure you will have to run it with low settings. I have a hd 5770 and to have decent fps need to run it on low : p

ATI is having a fair bit of trouble, since their drivers aren’t all that comfortable with opengl. It’s been patched a bit and has gotten a bit better, but I still get 30-50 fps with my 5830 and Q6700@3,6GHz. I don’t know if they’ll get around to fixing it any time soon. You’ll have to play at low settings and probably won’t get any decent rame rate, if you have the same problem that many ATI users are having.

No because its ATI. Sadly I wish this was a joke.

I had a 3870 and I’m now on a 5770. The 5770 runs Brink better than I thought and gets none of these ATI problems other people are talking about. The 3870 ran ETQW quite well but the FPS difference between the 2 games is enough to say don’t even bother trying to run Brink on that card (3870)

You might get away with it but it’s really not worth the risk. Save your money and put it into something made in the last year or so

Thanks guys for all your replys  I looked into the 5770 but unfortunatly I cannot afford that kinda price
I took my chances and purchased a 3870. I’ll post back here to tell you guys how I get on

I had no noticable issues with a 4350, quite surprising as it is just a placeholder, but seems quite capable for a sub $50 card

Ok I plugged every thing in exept from the power source, (un-knowingly) I turned on my computer and the card caught on fire  My dad said he might get me a new one since I was under his instructions. Anyway and GFX cards around £50 that run Brink well?

OMFG The 3870 still works even though it was set on fire :open_mouth: Im running Brink on the 3870 and it is definatly playable but just not the best  Thanks for all of you guy’s opinions and help
