I have a problem. When i go to my map i can move only as spectator but when i press ‘L’ its crashing and i have to use ctrl+alt+del to close ET. I have made a new map only with walls and spawns and it worked.
Can not play a map
thx for the question, i will include it in my faqs. updating to 2.6b will leave you with the same error at 2.55. you as a mapper have to make sure your map is running at every version. its not up to you to contribute to the 2.55 2.6b discussion. that is up to the admins and players. to solve this you have to apply the mapcoordsmins/mapcoordsmaxs key pairs to your worldspawn entity. this way your map will also run on 2.55.
I was using GTKRadiant 1.4
i have done mapcoordsmaxs and mins
devmap??
without this i cant run the map
and generatetracemap, what is it??
I as a mapper rather prevent people with outdated versions from playing my maps. There is no real reason not to upgrade.
But really i was suggesting to use latest ver for mapping as eventually every map will have coordsmin/max and a commandmap.
First I wanted to transfer you to this post:

But as that’s not your problem, try looking if it’s solved in the same topic:

After a long off topic post, you’ll see:

And then we have the tracemap thing:

With 2.60b you don’t need to add mapcoords, all the proper entities and do generatetracemap in the early stage. All you need to test the map out is an info_player_deathmatch (and script_multiplayer if you have scripting). Of course you need all those above for the release version to get all working properly (cmd map, mortar and proper spawning). So murka’s point about playing with outdated version is not really valid.
Mapping with 2.60b is just heck a lot easier.
