can I run it?
My CPU is an i7 920 OC’d @ 3.5. PSU is a 1000W Silvertone OP1000-E. Heat hasn’t been a problem with a Cooler Master HAF932 so I’m ok there…

I have yet to run into a game that I can’t play on high but I know that will not always be the case. I can grab a second GTX 285 for around 150-200 USD or save up to get a 570 or 580.
Well, then, I’d suggest a better graphics card, not much of a sli/crossfire supporter here either. Or you can just wait to see how your current card handles the game and see what nVidia or ATi have planned in the near future.

(Auzner) #102

I don’t know who he was talking to. AmazinGLarrY already bought one and wasn’t sure if a 2600k would have been better for them.

You should get a used 285 and just do sli. ~$120. They were over $300 new once. The GTX 580 is a $500 card and all you get is DX11 which isn’t really used with anything. If DX11 becomes mainstream a “780” would be a better card than a 580.

(master[mind]) #103

Yeah, DX11 is mostly unused rendering the card mostly worthless(for the price) but, the 580 has a considerably higher memory data rate than the 285. Yes, the bus is smaller, but it must be handled better because the quoted throughput is 33GB/s faster(Wikipedia). With any texture heavy game(not Brink?) it would help, especially with shaders like Parallax Occlusion Mapping and Relief Mapping. Otherwise, it would be better to wait for the future generation.

My computer runs an i3 540 @ 3.07 GHz with a nvidea 9800gt gpu. I assume I can run the game on low settings(maybe even medium? idk), but I was wondering if I would have terrible FPS, or any other problems in game?

Any advice would be much appreciated

(A.i) #105

if you have specs above minimum then you would’nt have fps problems on low maybe even medium (or mix of lows and mediums)

(Rex) #106

I also would like to know if I could run it. Thanks for your help!

My specs:

i7 990 Extreme Edition @ 4,73GHz
2x GTX590 (liquid cooled)
Corsair XMS3 Dominator GT 16GB DDR3
SSD OCZ Z-Drive e84 512GB
2000W PSU

Does your “Little Rex” feel bigger after posting that?

No. Probably not.

(Auzner) #109

It’s sarcasm. If it was actually his computer he’d be proud enough of the power supply to state the model. Also you can’t run 2kW on a normal residential circuit. It would require a C19 to 5-20 power cord.

(jfunk) #110

It’d also be a horrible waste of money serving absolutely no purpose. :stuck_out_tongue:

(Auzner) #111

No. It would still provide DC voltages from an AC source, but be a bit under loaded and inefficient.

(A.i) #112

And I thought, my AX1200 PSU was an overkill…

I’ve seen 25Amp cables in server room at my work, would look funny attached to a computer

Chill the cluck out everyone! I got this shoot!

System Requirement Lab, aka Can You Run It?

Ok well, the website is down right now, so I don’t know if Brink is actually on the list, but the Facebook fan page says it was added.

You could probably do with a motherboard and while you’re there pick-up a keyboard and mouse
Cases are overrated

I’m new to the forum and new to PC gaming, been on consoles until now…

I just picked up a desktop with:
AMD PhenomII QuadCore 945 Processor
8 gigs RAM, 1TB hard drive
ATI Radeon HD 5450 graphics card

I feel like I’m good for running Brink, except for maybe the graphics card…the official website specs are saying Radeon HD5750. Am I f’d here or will it work? I kinda wanna get back to shooters on PC instead of the console controllers.

any help and info would be awesome, thanks

Yeah i think you need a beefier card.

(suedopod) #118

ok, right on. thanks for the input. if you had about $200 to spend on a card, what would you go with? There seems to be a sh!t-ton of options and i guess i don’t mind going towards the high end for some future-friendly power and being competitive with brink…?

also, i’ve heard some ppl set up multiple displays to be able to actually render a wider viewing angle of the actual game screen to basically increase peripheral vision beyond the norm…can this be done with Brink do you think, and how?

(Auzner) #119

HD 6950 and GTX 560 Ti are close to 200.

Yes. By having more than $200 to spend. nvidia and ati drivers support gaming across multiple monitors. You need powerful cards to do native resolution.

If you want to stay south of $200, I’d probably look for a 460GTX (NOT SE). If you’re willing to reach a little bit higher than $200, I’d look at the 6950.

Of course the moment you look at the 6950 1GB for that extra couple bucks, you’re quickly going to be asking yourself if you can reach just a little bit more for the 2GB version (which I absolutely would do, cash permitting).
