Campaign..

(Hatey) #1

NOTE: Ignore this one and look at the newest posts…

Hi, Im running an ETpub server at 2.56, and for some reason the campaign doesnt work when put in a separate pk3 file… At first I had it inside my soundpack and everything worked, but when I removed the soundpack and put the campaign in another pk3 all alone, it didnt work anymore… The server just didnt send it to players for some reason.

The file is called zzz_aodcamp.pk3, and the aodcmpgn.campaign is inside the scripts folder, like it should be. I cant be bothered to copy the script here because I know it works (I even tested a straight copy from campaign central europe but still no)… Oh and I put the file in etpub folder where it used to be, but I also tried etmain with no luck.

So, any ideas why the server fails loading the campaign…? Im 100% its not about the script itself, the maps, the file name or the path its in, so what else could it be?? Its as if the server didnt want to load any files smaller than 1mb :S?

HALP!

First you must put the campaign file in your etmain directory this should force everyone to download the file, so make sure youre running a pure server look if are setup in your server.cfg this sv_pure 1 and if have the exec campaigncycle.cfg , look if you set the in campaigncycle.cfg this: set d_initial “set g_gametype 4 ; map oasis ; set nextcampaign vstr d2”, if this didnt work take a look at your campaign file becouse you have did something wrong.

Nah I did all that and everything was the way it should be, but it just didnt work.
I guess my ftp client just failed. Anyway it works now after my friend uploaded the file to the server.

Im having the same problem again. The server isnt sending the campaign file or the sounds to the client, meaning the sounds dont work and the campaign doesnt load either.

Let me be more specific this time. I have a custom .pk3 file in ETMAIN folder with of my server, and the file is called aod_sounds.pk3. Insdie the file I have 2 folders, SCRIPTS and SOUND. The sound folder contains some killing spree sounds and such, the scripts folder contains a custom campaign called aod_campaign.campaign. Inside it I have:

{
name “AoD Campaign”
shortname “cmpgn_aod”
description “AoD 8 map campaign”
maps “goldrush;radar;supply;fueldump;oasis;battery;adlernest;railgun”
mapTC 374 374
type “wolfmp”
}

All maps are in the server and the file names are right. The campaigncycle.cfg looks like this:

set d1 “campaign cmpgn_aod; set nextcampaign vstr d1”
set d_initial “set g_gametype 4 ; map goldrush; set nextcampaign vstr d1”
vstr d_initial

Its in the etmain folder.

I have sv_pure 1, sv_allowdownload 1 and exec campaigncycle.cfg in the server cfg like it should be.

Any ideas why the campaign isnt working and why its not sending the .pk3 file to clients?? Ive read every damned tutorial and topic I could find over the net and nothings working. I must be missing something… The last time I had this problem it was magically fixed by my friend who claimed he only reuploaded the file to the server and it worked but there shouldnt be anything wrong with my uploads so… wtf? Its driving me nuts.

EDIT: Oh and Im running the latest etpub, could it be that I have to have some of the files in etpub folder instead of etmain?

I know nothing about this, but try to start the pk3 name with z_

Then it’s loaded at the end, maybe this solves it?

(Hatey) #6

Nope thats not it.

well I don’t know anything about campaigns really, but this:

set d1 "campaign cmpgn_aod; set nextcampaign vstr d1"
set d_initial "set g_gametype 4 ; map goldrush; set nextcampaign vstr d1"
vstr d_initial

looks kind of odd?

Shouldn’t it be something like this:

EDIT: This is wrong

set d1 "campaign cmpgn_aod; set nextcampaign vstr d1"
set d_initial "set g_gametype 4 ; map goldrush; set nextcampaign vstr d1"
set nextcampaign "vstr d_initial"

Or just

set campaign cmpgn_aod
set nextcampaign cmpgn_aod

?

Also I’d suggest using g_gametype 2 instead of 4 or at least separating the campaign from the sound pack so you can change it later without making all the clients have to redownload the whole thing.
Then in that case you have to put soundpack in etpub folder and the campaign in the etmain folder.

I’m also not sure what will happen now, since the clients are forced to download the pack you have made because it contains a campaign file, but I am not sure if etpub will force the clients to use the sounds. (because it’s in the etmain folder)

The campaign cycle was copied from the default campaign cycle that comes with ET so it should be right.

What comes to campaign being in the sounds file, I put it there in order to force people to download the damned sound file but its not working anyway so I might aswell separate them later. But the point is, neither of them worked. The server isnt sending them :confused:

Put this “*.pk3” file in the mod folder.

Delete this space in adlernest map name - “adle rnest”.

{
name "AoD Campaign"
shortname "cmpgn_aod"
description "AoD 8 map campaign"
maps "goldrush;radar;supply;fueldump;oasis;battery;adlernest;railgun"
mapTC 374 374
type "wolfmp"
}

[/QUOTE]

The space was created by the forum, its a bug. The real campaign file doesnt have that space.

I’ll try it on etpub folder again, tried it earlier too but I have changed a few things since then so maybe itll work now…

Simply try the campaign creator at www.wolffiles.de,
all needed files were packed and could be easily installed.

(ailmanki) #12

check if you have g_campaignfile set to something…

(Hatey) #13

I fixed the problem (or my friend did), it was something about wrong extension altho it displayd as a .pk3 file in my end so Im not exactly sure what was going on. Its funny tho because thats the first thing I always check when things go wrong and I could swear it was .pk3 when I checked the properties. :confused:

Its been so long since I last edited any files in ET…
