Calling all Q3 Mapping Noobs

(MadAxeMan) #1

Gonna be starting to develop a smallish objective map sometime soon - based on scaling the Obersalzberg mountain and capturing Hitler’s Nest.

Should be a fairly simple (I always say that  ) map but also want to encapsulate as much basic functionality in both scripting / modelling as possible. I’m totally new to Q3 mapping so it’s going to be very much a learning exercise.

If anyone wants to come along for the ride then drop me an email at q3mapping@singletrax.co.uk or post below. I have access to a couple of servers where common resources / docs / tools etc can be stored.

I have a hefty background in programming so I’m probably gonna come up short on new models / texture creation, so anyone who could contribute there will be most welcome.

One question for Sock: would it be possible to build a working lift? If not, I’ll just make it destructable and use the shaft via a ladder…

Cool, cheers - be happy to tag it on the end of your campaign. Might need a bit of expansion over the original idea - I was aiming for a smaller map possibly biased towards a limited lives scenario. But no firm design mapped out yet…

P.S I get a 404 on that link - be great to email it as well. Give me an idea of how it is all put together.

[edit - no probs I searched your forum and downloaded it]

Me and djbob did alot of scripting examples for RTCW a while ago. Have a look, they contain working example maps and scripts files.
