I’d be willing to help out anyone who is willing to trust me.

Edit: especially Australians, the game is only $50 USD

Are you sure that will work? I think even when the game is being gifted it will still be locked for you untill the release date in Europe when your region is set to Europe (and faking your region can get your steam account disabled -.-).

steam gave my account special privileges, since I’m a US citizen all my billing information is in the states; however I live overseas so my billing information doesn’t match my IP address.

So they gave me a link to a US steam store (browser store) which says the game will release on the 10th. I bought it there, however on my steam app store it still says the game comes out the 12th.

It doesn’t matter where you buy the game, rather where you are when you are connected to steam.

Thanks guys. I have a preorder from before the price hike but it’s a generous offer.

Diablo85, it’s not a problem at all. I have many games bought from overseas Steam localisations, and none of them are a problem with my account. As far as when they unlock, I think once again it is based on localisation. Effectively Steam gives you a CD Key, and where the CD Key was bought is how it determines things, not where it’s currently being used. What if you bought your game when in the US, but went to the UK on holiday?

This is true for me since the Aussie Left 4 Dead 2 was seriously gimped graphically due our stupid censorship, so I got a UK version and mine is full gore.

I <3 you

Will it unlock any sooner as a gift though?

Should do.

Reddit - Steam Support bans my account for gifting European users games at the US prices.

Word of warning, it seems you can get banned from steam for selling games to people from other pricing regions. Though i’m not exactly certain of the validity of the OP’s claims (the OP in my link). If you are selling steam games using the gifting system to Europeans you are helping them dodge the value added tax (most, if not all, European countries have VAT).

when i play brink im gong to be the security and then ill kill all the rebels and their VAT nonsence
America wins.

It definately works my last gift was IL2 CoD to an american friend, I believe it still hasn’t been released in the US. He gifted me Shogun 2 before that.

Also the claim of tax dodging is an interesting one because surely thats a difficult one to prove… obviously if someone repeatedly was buying games for you even though they were already out in your country they could prove it but one game wont flag up a thing…
