Bushwhacker vs Redeye vs Stoker

(SaulWolfden) #1

I initially posted this in the wrong section I think.

I’m sitting on 50,000 credits and I’m thinking of buying one of these three (I know both Redeye and Stoker are not currently in the game, but I can wait for one or the other to come out). I already own Fragger, Sawbones (my personal favorite medic), and Proxy (initially had used the shotguns until I found I preferred her smg) in addition to Skyhammer and Aura who you get for free. I did get a bronze card that has the Kek-10 and several traits that benefit him so that’s why I had been considering getting him.

Of the mercs I have Proxy is my favorite as I like her run and gun style (along with her being able to still be defensive). How does Bushwhacker compare to Proxy? What sort of playstyle would I expect from Redeye and Stoker (if either of the two were playable in the closed beta).

Bushwhacker, live in the moment.

Personally I enjoy both bush and proxy, maybe leaning a little more favoritism to bush since i not a huge fan of shotguns and a lot of proxy’s loadouts are shotguns.

regarding red eye and stoker

I personally have bushwhacker and he is a beast!

Bushwhacker can be played as a fast paced aggressive merc, but also a defensive. If you put you’re turret right, behind corners, or on spots were the enemy will run past it, the enemy will get mowed down quickly.

You always want to put your bushwacker turrets in corners where the enemy won’t see them when they run by. Also, it’s best to stick right next to your turret, dishing out double the pain when an enemy comes by, it drops them like flies.

For a more aggressive playstyle, use walljumps a lot, the enemy never expects you to do it. The kek 10 is an absolute beast for aggressive play. Placing your turret right in there face makes it so they have to shoot your turret before it gets set up, leaving you free to shoot them in the face.

Another way is flanking the enemy, setting up a turret, and clearing out an entire area

cough trainyard map going under the bridge into the closable gate

Anyways, I love bushwhacker and almost always top frag with him, he is so fun and so versatile to use. If you play your turret smart and not like someone who places his turret in the middle of the open expecting it to be a M1 Abrams

Also I don’t have any experience with the other two mercs, but I can tell you Bushwhacker is a lot of fun if played right

Between the two unreleased mercs, Stoker seems more my style, he’s both supportive with the ammo station and offensive/defensive with the Molotov.

Fletcher !

Just get Bushwhacker, by the time Stoker and Redeye comes out you’ll have enough credits for them.

Bushwhacker is the best Engineer and is live, so might as well get him.

(Harlot) #9

They’ve stated they’re going to slow down on the Merc releases now, seeing the backlash from Rhino being rushed. You are probably okay to buy Bushwhacker now and save for the next few mercs.

There’s a multitude of things here. Red eye is an area denial kind of mercenary, meaning he can either cover the objective or “block” a passage way with smoke, in which he can safely look through and shoot accordingly with his Battle Rifle or sniper rifle, he might very well replace Vasili.

Stoker servers as the exact same, but instead of smoke he throws molotovs that kills / burns people to death should they dare to follow him. This mean maps with limited access points are their favour, like Underground, or perhaps Terminal. He provides Ammunition with a station like Kira, and has access to the same guns as Skyhammer.

Now Bushwhacker is an Engineer with a turret. What’s there to say, he can over an area with a well placed turret, and meanwhile still be strong as he’s equipped with the kek-10, which is currently blatantly OP.

As for who to unlock, it’s obviously best to get Bushwhacker as he’s actually out haha.

Red Eye. To make all Phantoms cry.

(InvaderGir) #12

Since I’m a sucker for throwables I’ll say Stoker. Fire! Fire!! FIRE!!!

(SaulWolfden) #13

Well I bought Bushwhacker and I think that was a mistake. There’s nothing wrong with him or his set up per se… I think I spent 50,000 credits to always end up on teams that get steamrolled. Haven’t gotten into a single fair match since buying him which means I have no idea if he’s my style or not.

(BanHammer) #14

It’s most likely there won’t be a new class for maybe a month from what the developers sort of said on stream.

Buy Bushwhacker and make the entire enemy cry. Plus, you’ll most likely get another 50k before another merc comes out.

(Alphafox) #15

I would pick RedEye, in my opinion he’s simply the best recon the game has to offer.

Really? i was saving for redeye but if that’s true i’ll get bushwacker too

(Lenny) #17

wow redeye looks like an amazing class to play

(B_Montiel) #18

Don’t worry, switching from proxy to bushwacker is a big step backwards in speed. This feeling will disappear after spending some time with him. He feels slow and useless at first glance, but after a couple of hours you’ll notice that he’s as useful as proxy can be, and he surely can face more situations than she does.

Either way, spending money on medics, engineers and supports is NEVER a bad choice.

(VincentRJaeger) #19

If you can learn the synergy between Bushwhacker and the Turret, you’re set. Having an extra fighter either by your side or hidden is gold-play for a Bushwhacker. Gotta just continue play him and see for yourself if he fits your style.

There’s always going to be a demand for Doc’s, Engies and Mules, so as @B. MontIel said, it’s never a bad choice!

(PenguinHorde) #20

bushwacker, bought him with cash today, no regrets
