I am a rebel, and prefer the BL81 loadout, with Steady and Lock On.
Bushwhacker meta - loadout poll (apology - I wrote Extra Supplies instead of Spares)
I use the one with SMG9 and lock on haha.
How do you guys remember all the loadout names…

I work and go to college, I gotta remember small things, I had to learn to anyhow.

674 hours in Dirty Bomb. I still don’t remember loadout numbers
Bushwhacker seems to do well with augments that increase his survivability which is why I tend to pick SM43 loadout.
I believe it gives him a lot of versatility and survivability at the same time.
Lock on helps increase the turret’s rather slow reaction time.
Looter helps you sustain in battle, with packs from people you kill
Bomb Squad helps because well…Bushwhacker is an engineer…
However the C41 loadout will really put the hurt on enemies because not only does your turret lock on faster, but the kek does massive damage close range + steady aim? Yea your done.

Agree with most of what you said, but what’s with your logic for Bomb Squad being useful?
“Bomb Squad helps because well… Bushwhacker is an engineer…”
How does Bomb Squad relate to objective specialist mercs…?
(Or was that just sarcasm?)

He probably means because people often set up mine and sticky traps where the objective work needs to be done, so it can be helpful for engineers. I get what he is saying.
@LifeupOmega K51 Power Gunner/Revised Gunner K-121 Fragger huh.
Also don’t forget the 1st gen CR42 for Sawbonez! Best combat Sawbonez loadout.
I actually tried SM43 Strike Operative for two days without using C41.
That loadout is the only one that have both SMG-9 and Lock-On, and it was totally awesome.
But like @ProfPlump mentioned Focus isn’t the only strongest part of C41, you just run out of bullets too quick without Spares.
Also 4 = M9 pistol, 1 = Beckhill knife which is the best secondary + melee weapon set.
If SM43 had Spares instead of Looter, I would definitely agonize which one to choose.

Eh. I reckon the only reason Bomb Squad is good is for looking for Snitches. Everything else is obvious enough already.
I agree, for experienced players. But newer players on the other hand make me wonder some times.
Ah yes that’s the one SM43. Good stuff
I think bomb squad is just a slight convenience, you can become dependent on it though. Looter is almost useless to me.
@ThunderPro I rather have drilled than spares because I play very recklessly and my life expectancy is quite short, might not live long enough to benefit from spares lmao

It’s more of a nice utility augment to have, means you don’t waste what could be precious seconds hunting something down when it’s glowing.

Pretty much what @Dox said. Bushwhacker is a defense centered merc and having bomb squad while defending is useful to spot the snitch’s, spotter’s, mines, and etc.

Looter is infinitely better than spares. Looter helps bushwhacker out a lot because he’s a defensive merc and getting ammo/ health packs while defending is helpful.

That’s assuming it works, maybe it’s just me but I find it doesn’t always produce ammo or health.

how often do you get to kill&gib a fire support in a single life? its not likely its even an average of 1. On the other hand, spares is an insta ammo-pack at the beginning of each life, plus the increased ammo capacity.
Getting medpacks from gibbed medics is nice, but spares is overall much more reliable, and doesn’t require a specific composition from the enemy team.

There have been times where packs have not dropped for me, but that’s usually either a rare bug or my teammates finish them off.

That’s actually a fair point. Even though there are 4 fire support mercs on the enemy team that doesn’t guarantee I’ll get a pack. That’s just a chance you take. Spares is reliable in the sense that you start with it.
If you find yourself running out of ammo frequently, then by all means go with Spares.
Other then that, looter is a better choice if you want better sustain and survivability.
Health packs have saved me in mid battle numerous times and ammo packs have saved me trips to the ammo box when my teammates refuse to drop ammo. It just synergizes well with Bushwhacker, to defend and stay in one area.

Looter is a fairly awful augment since it only gives you one half of an ammo magazine and the world’s tiniest medpacks, you need to gib 2 fire supports and walk over to pick up the ammo just to get the same benefit you would get simply from spawning with Spares, not to mention how the drops might be in an unreachable position or even get picked up by your enemies. I think they should either increase the amount of ammo/health given, by like twice as much, or just make it so that it magically gives you a little bit of ammo/health from far away just from killing them.
