Bushwacker Nerfed
@MidnightButterSweats how would you play bush on offense. put a turret in your spawn and wait for people to come in?

if you have to enter a choke, plonking the turret down quickly to increase DPS/soak up damage is good practice.
And when that 5 - 15 second firefight is over you have another 5 - 15 until the enemy respawns, so you just pick up the turret and before you run into anyone else your cooldown will be ready. That’s the point. Nobody is taking travel and fight time into account because you’re all still pretending his turret is a bullet shield. I love it in 1v1s when Bushwhackers dump turrets because it’s a free kill and free destroy xp. I don’t shoot at the chest region so turrets don’t block my shots and that’s that many fewer seconds he’s shooting.

Quit your crying and change your strategy. I’ve done perfectly fine as Bushwhacker on 6v6 servers using smart sentry placement and working with my team to cover the turret too. You don’t leave it alone on the other side of the map, you tuck it away when the enemy approaches and support it, or you place it forward while your team is engaging. It’s not a shield and it’s not good in 1v1.

the argument we made is that the unintentional nerf of bushwhackers combat availability by trying to prevent xp griefing is silly. dont see anyone crying though.

bushwhacker is still a-ok, but the nerf was unwarranted and unnecessary, and it removes a degree of mobiity from bush turret placement.

turret is great in 1v1, im not saying ‘put turret down when you could otherwise open up’ but its great to reinforce your firing position and make it difficult to peek you. plus if you crouch behind it it covers the majority of your hitbox, especially if you have the higher ground (e.g. undeground main avenue on last obj, with those little stairs); plus turret can block aoe like a nader’s nade.

all of these uses were NEEDLESSLY nerfed by making it more costly to put the turret down. it was a fun element of his playstyle that is now dumbed down by limiting your tactical options.

maybe too many noobs get rekt by bush sentry…
so they cried “SENTRY OP PLS NERF”

i myself would want to see bush turret to have better damage than semi-peashooter

I have been playing bushwacker frequently since the unintentional(?) nerf.

He plays medicore as he did before, but there is definately an impact on his viability.

I often find myself in the position where I have incoming enemy spawn waves, and still 5 seconds left on cooldown.

I guess ultimately it is ok, since the xp from turretting seems to be a bit better. But if Bushwacker was ever a competitive merc, he definately took a hit.

I see Proxies and Fletchers galore. They are both more competitive engineers, because of speed and damage potential.

Proxy is really sketchy, with comic book character speed, and landmines that can be used as ied. FIetcher can knock out many enemy in short order with his bombs and extremely good weapon choices.

Is there a way to get developer input, to find out if the Bushwacker deployment nerf was intentional?

This only works if the enemy isn’t shooting for the head and shoulders, or charging. You’re dead on a charge and dead the next time you peek around your turret. You’re also down a turret if you just stay behind it since the turret will just be shot before it can arm up and fire. If the enemy is hiding around corners then yes, just drop a turret, but then you’re just playing against a mediocre player. Bushwhackers are definitely meant to be engaged at long range or charged with a shotgun/melee.

mediocre player? people have to reload/ get hp/ reasses situation. there are multiple opportunities for plonking a suppressive turret down and firing from behind it

if the turret dies before setting up it just soaked up damage that might have hit you instead.

dont get me wrong, i definitely am not saying : put turret down instead of shooting opponents. however there are multiple scenarios when its worthwhile to do a quick turret, which are now nerfed.

being mobile with the turret was great fun, and now it got a pointless bash
