Buff my teammates

(Dima) #1

PW: In Brink what we’ve tried to do is make it so that the three combat roles – Soldier, Medic and Engineer – can all help out their teammates, and as they level up the level of depth and complexity grows and develops. When I first start out, as a Medic I can give out health, as a Soldier I can give out ammo, and as an Engineer I can buff my teammates’ weapons. But as I develop, so too do my skills. Later on the Engineer can buff armour, build things etc., the Medic can start giving regenerative boosts and adrenaline, and the gameplay depth really broadens out. You can combine these skills too. The Operative can hack things and later on scan enemies to reveal enemy positions.

All of these collaborative, teambuilding activities earn you more XP than simply being on the frontline. In a way I suppose we’re kind of bribing players to organically build a more diverse, co-operative experience.

“Buff my teammates’ weapons”? What does that mean? How its work? I have to put some spells on my teammates to buff their bullets for 60 seconds?

“buff armour” - is that some magic armour from some MMORPG?

How buffs work in Brink?

all people have “supplies” which could be considered mana, heavy can carry the most while light the least. When you face a teammate if they are not buffed for something, a button will pop up on them asking you if you want to buff them, engineers will throw a multipurpose wrench, soldiers will throw things like mags, and medics will throw Epi pens (needles)

In Brink, when you are within range of performing a buff on a teammate, you will see indicators that say like “Buff player name” appear. A buff is performed simply by holding down the appropriate button.

It is said that buffs will last as long as the player is alive. Once they die, it must be reapplied.

Ok, understood.

But what means weapon buffs? “Stand still while I will screw the silencer on your rifle” ?
“Wait while I modify your sight” ?

I think weapon “buffs” will be things like equip speed and reload speed

You don’t have to stand still to get a buff. If you are buffing a moving player, you will “lock on” to them until you are done. Also, for weapon buffs, the Engineer tosses you an item and you can buff yourself when you feel like it.

i recall something of 15-20% increase in damage of the buffed wpn.

“hold on, that weapon was neglected, i doubt it shoots very well, let me have a look at it”

I think it’ll simply be more damage.

While I tell you about the historic events that occurred in this alleyway on the right.

I believe the engineer throws/gives another player a wrench/drill. Then they can choose to use that to upgrade their weapon for a damage bonus.

(tokamak) #11

That way they can assist the medics with the kill-revives

i guess, engies can buff medics equipent too ? including non-combat things[like healing stuff].
