Do a search on “decompiling”, searching for .bsp/.map brings up so many useless posts. Just don’t be ripping peoples work off
You need to use the -convert switch, I just don’t remember off the top of my head how to use it.
found this, should work, make sure your q3map2 is up-to-date:

A few guys have released their source .map files too, which is awesome because decompiling doesn’t work with Entities. I think there might be no textures either…
found these released sources:

(Thanks to the mappers!)

dont google mapping stuff; you’ll have better luck using the search button on this forum.
if im not mistaken there is already a post with this exact same name/answers
http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/search.php (better than google)
Just keep in mind a few things:
When you decompile a bsp file, it will not turn into the exact map file the creator made. Textures will be unaligned, entities and models will be missing, and most importantly, all brushes will be converted to structural instead of detail.
You can use decompiling to look at a certain way something is build. You can see scriptnames etc. But DO NOT just copy/paste parts of a map into your map without the permission of the creator of the map!
Basically, you ruin the map when you decompile, but it can be usefull to see how a certain objective is made or something like that…
yeah i just wanted to see the different scripting methods in the ID maps
Here is a de-Compiler -> http://s13.invisionfree.com/RoeltjE/index.php?showtopic=348
ok, let me revive this topic
it was easy to convert it under windows (batch file, or q3map2toolz etc) but how do i do it in linux?
