Bsp loading error - ET freezes...

(cicero) #1

Hello!

I’m now working fast forward on my map (treberga) but map won’t load…

I have built a really small map that I call “trebergatest” instead of compileing the whole big “real map” treberga, just to try things out so they will work properly (before copying them into my big map). The thing is that ET won’t load the map…

First I compile the map using (“single BSP -Meta”). Then I fire up ET, bring down the console and type:

/sv_pure 0
/g_gametype 2
/devmap trebergatest

When I do this ET brings up the Standard European map but then freezes… and I have to press Ctrl+Alt+Del to stop the program as it doesn’t respond (or what it might be called in the english version of Win XP).

Any suggestions why, and how to fix it???

Ciao!
Cicero

The problem could be that you have to many “.pk”-files in the “etmain” directory.
Try to copy some of them into another directory and try again.

Too many? but ET works fine othervise? So ET will find it as long as it is in a sub-folder to the “etmain” folder?

This is crearly too many pk3 in etmail directory. You can easily play at any server because then the engine only load nessacy pk3 files and it is not too much. When you try to test your map the engine loads all the pk3s. Try deleting all you little campaing pk3s.

Hmm… hello again… well I have mow deleted quite a few of the .pk3:s but ET still freezes… Is this really a problem that has to do with to many .pk3:s? If so why will it still not load after I’v deleted approx 35-45 of the .pk3:s…??? Could this has to do with anything else? Must my map file be in the etmain folder, cant it be in a subfolder then - or can I move more or less all the other .pk3:s to a subfolder and that will help???

I’ve had your same problem…so I’ve installed on my hd 2 Et installation…one for gaming and one in another directory only for mapping and I add only the text and other things that I need

mapcoordsmins / mapcoordsmaxs … Check those. They have to be a PERFECT square.

How many threads are there about map not loading??? sigh

Searching is SO hard :frowning:

yea… lol…
they should make the search button BOLD/ITALIC… so people will notice :stuck_out_tongue:
back on topic: Yup… had this problem 2… i think its a good habit that u clean ur etmain folder every 2 weeks or something just deleting custom campaign files and watermarks except the ones from ur clanserver or servers u visit a lot…

Or better still have a clean install of ET for mapping, save all the headaches.

Your map, treberatest.map should be in etmain/maps directory.

Yes. Move all custom maps that you might have downloaded out of there too, just to make sure if this is the problem or not. Be careful not to delete any of the original pk3s that came with the game/Radiant though:

astro-skies.pk3
common.pk3
lights.pk3
mapmedia.pk3
mp_bin.pk3
pak0.pk3
pak1.pk3
