BSOD on Brink

Hey Guys

I have been reading these forums to try find a fix for my issue. Tried everything suggested but still nothing working…

Whenever I play Brink, MP or SP it will randomly Blue Screen my whole PC. Screen goes black with diagonal white lines with a stuttering repetative noise. Only fix is to restart my PC.
It seems to only happen on 2 maps. Container City and Security Tower. Happens at random times, nothing similar on each blue screen.

I have had about 3 or 4 Blue Screens occur, in my time playing Brink. I wil point out that my PC is OC’d, so it may have something to do with it and Brink finding my weak spot, but everytime I have had one I was Alt-Tabing a lot and running many things in the background. One thing similar to all my Blue Screens was X-Fire running, which I read on these forums that someone felt as it was a cause to an issue they were having(not sure if it is the problem).

I find it best after having had a BSOD that when I restart I only launch what I need, and I only play the game for as long as I can. I do not Alt-Tab, or browse the internet. When doing that with Brink I dont get a recurrence of the BSOD. Only times that it does pop back up is if I am trying to do 15 things at the same time while I play and I am back and forth between the Desktop and the Game.

Not a fix really, but it may help to keep you in the game.

Thanks man. Unfortunately I have tried that. I also dnt alt tab while ingame.

Only things I have running are TS3 and Steam. And I have even tried without TS duing SP maps. Still BSOD! Its very random but it does happen out every 2-3 times playing the game. Not sure what the determining factor is.

I have also tried Ati 11.3, 11.4, 11.5 and 11.5rc3 drivers.

Does not happen with any other game I have installed on my machine, and I have plenty!

It might be pushing that 3850 to hard. Although I have installed Brink on a mcahine with a 3850 and ran it for like 6 hours to show it off to a buddy.

DO you use GPU-Z it might help to determine if your card is overheating or under to much load.

Not that editing cvars is guaranteed to help as it seems that a lot of people dont really see much performance difference when adjusting cvars for visuals. But it might.

Is your PC overclocked atall? it sounds like possibly your PSU is failing - or power options need to be changed. I kept getting bluescreens only with Brink but had no idea why til I realised it was my GPU as it was overclocked, have to turn it down to stock clocks for Brink but never bluescreens anymore.

Hurlbag has a good point BC2 was doing that to me, but downclocking my Stock OC’d card only prevented it from happening as often. Could be worth a try if it is the case.
