Brink's "Shooter" in FPS

(Rai) #1

Hopefully this thread will stay civil, I’ll try my attempt with a start of, ehm… :penguin:

I’d like to say that I do absolutely love the game, I’m enjoying it as much as anyone could really at this point. However, there are a few things that could be done to polish the “Shooter” in this FPS. (PC Player)

  1. Recoil: There’s too much of it! I’m often forced to spray even with burst shots, the burst just does not help much, if at all.

  2. Headshots: It’s not there! I see no real reason to disable headshots whatsoever, removing a challenge in aiming easily removes some competitive play and depth in the game.

  3. Melee: Buggy as all hell, whether it be a corpse to gib or lively competition. I can’t tell if it’s the timing, the hitbox or latency that’s causing my hits to only register 50% of the time.

  4. Camera: My camera is so unreliable, I’ve died many, many times trying to help other team-mates out while giving out a buff, and in return I get my camera rolling a 180 to my death.

  5. Range: SMG, I’m at shotgun’s length to get proper hit rates. Shotgun? I’m at kissing length to get proper hit rates. I understand we can’t be sniping with shotguns, but it just feels a little off. (With burst, btw)

There may be a few more, but these are my main points.
It feels as though they’ve attempted to push the Team-Oriented gameplay so far, that they actually managed push out some good bits of the FPS genre that we all loved so much.

The solidity of the “Shooter” sub-section in this Team-Oriented FPS is just lacking, unfortunately.

I understand we don’t want to necessarily reward K/D kings in a match, but now we’re just stripping away the depth in the “Shooter” element.
(I don’t play CoD, these points don’t sway changes to team-oriented play whatsoever.)

TL;DR… I think the waiter watered down my soda a little but gave me an extra side of onion rings.

Thoughts?

for the most part i agree, i think your body type really has an effect on the recoil though

  1. Yes, there is a lot of recoil for all automatic weapons. I do not see a problem with this and in fact like the fact I have to fire in bursts lest suffer major recoil, random cone of fire, and the shot in the face I’ll receive for not firing in bursts to mainatin accuracy/recoil.

  2. Headshots are there. I admit that they don’t seem to do a whole lot more damage but being able to take people down a little bit quicker but not “Lolturncorneromgdead” fast works just fine for me. After all, with the engineer upgraded damage buff I can take people with in 2-3 bursts with the burst rifle.

  3. I agree completely on this one.

  4. I… don’t quite understand what you are refering to with this. Do you mean when you go to buff a person and it swings your guy around to toss him his ammo/bag?

  5. I think the range is quite fine. I admit I seem to be extremely clunky with the shotgun, I’ll put it towards never really being a shotgun type of guy, but I find my accuracy is fine at mid-close ranges with the SMG like it’s intended and the same mid-long with ARs, again like intended. Now… I will say I feel the shotguns hitboxes seem to be a little laggy or sometimes they don’t register or knock people back when shot so I don’t understand this one.

My major complaint is the Heavy only weapons don’t seem to be worth it, in range, power, or intimidation factor to warrant the tiny health, lose of speed/movement, and other things associated with it. (since this post was more gun/weapon related)

I only agree with number 3, this NEEDS to be fixed.

Yea the attachments really make a difference for recoil, my revolver was going all over the place but when I put a mussle break on it, it shot like a dream (then with a hi-pow scope it turns into a semi auto sniper)

Yeah, the camera swing handicaps me at times, I’d like the ability to throw someone an item if they’re in range without random camera movement, don’t auto-follow them even when they’re in range, makes the camera feel clunky.

I’ll try out some new attachment combos when I get home, hopefully have a different outlook.

melee and shotguns need to be fixed, as well as more balance with weapons.

by balance i mean we need weapons more in line with 2 strong stats and the remaining weaker… so we can have more variety. weapons with good accuracy + stability with less power… stuff like that. there seems to be situations like that in the weapon stats… but in reality they are nowhere near what the stats say.
