Quotes from OP edited down to important points.

"During my little web search i found interesting reactions on Brink.
First and second category in general, for some of the players “Brink a much cooler action game than Black Ops” , but they are dividing this games to two categories. For Call of duty players is Brink “simulator” , and COD games are 'action games", But they agree Brink has a better story and more advanced customization."
---->As for Brink looking like “a much cooler action game”, i’m inclined to agree. COD:BO has great controls and graphics, but so does Brink, with a bit more fun to it.
To call Brink a “simulator” when comparing it to COD, though, seems a little off. Call of duty is in itself not really a simulator, but more of an arcade-simulator. Brink, with it’s even more over-the-top characters and action seems like more of that.
People agreeing on Brink having a better story before it comes out… i just don’t agree with that until i actually get to experience it.
The one thing that really rings true is the “more advanced customisation” part. Brink has an awesome customisation part, when it comes to the individual look of the character.
It will be fun to see if weapon customisation is as good as COD, and if the perk/ability system is better balanced than COD.
“Another common reactions are, players sees quite a difference between both games, but they think Black ops would give them more playtime. since “Brink is a co-op game and the story ends at some point”
Some of them think SMART isn’t really that great. For them SMART is hit a key system, and it does the free running portion for you.”
–> Here, i disagree about the playtime issue. Not only that, but i believe it to be factually wrong. In Black Ops you had a campaign that ended at some point. The difference with it and Brink, is that in brink, the multiplayer and campaign are in the same maps. That does not mean that brink will get boring sooner, as longevity in multiplayer is more a gameplay issue.
Also, to the people that believe that the smart key basically does the free running for you, they are right. That does not mean it’s bad. It gives the player the freedom to do other things simultaneously. Conversely, a skilled player can do things faster without using the smart button, the difference being that when you manually do a wall-run to a ledge flip, it’s harder to concentrate on aiming at the same time. It helps new players to level the field, and removes some of the interface/user barrier that keeps new players from entering games.
It’s also optional
“Next few reactions are almost same. they know Brink is a science fiction FPS heavily based on story and customization. For this group, Brink is a semi-cartoony look to characters and environments, and does not have the typical multiplayer aspect to other FPS games. They know when you play against other players in Brink, you are actually playing a piece of the campaign with the AI enemies replaced with real people. They comparing SMART with Mirror’s Edge…”
–> Semi-cartoony look, i agree with. But with lots of details, and a unique design identity.
The thing about not having the typical multiplayer aspect of other FPS’es seems really weird. What is brink missing? team-based shooting? that can’t be it, since brink is essentially built around it.
Playing against others in Brink is actually playing a piece of the campaign… yes, that is true. It does not, however, mean that you HAVE TO continue to play the levels in the order of the campaign if you don’t want to.
Comparing SMART to Mirror’s Edge is obvious. They see first person parkour, which is rare. Mirror’s Edge was also very good. One of the Key differences here, is that in Brink, you’re supposed to shoot alot. In Mirror’s Edge, you’re encouraged not to shoot anyone.
“In compare with Black-Ops, in most common reactions, for them is another modern Call of Duty that is very much the same as previous COD, just with a different developer with new ideas. They like to unlock new weapons, they like emblem editor that will replace the player bars and uploading videos of games they played.
.”
–> Comparing with other shooters is understandable. Hopefully, when they compare, they see the differences that makes Brink stand out. Unlocking stuff is fun, and the “reward”-aspect of unlocking is much of what drives level-driven rpgs and mmo’s, fps’s and car games.
Some examples of games where you progressively earn stuff/equipment, and where
that in itself drives the players want to actually play the game:
Halo: Reach
Fable
Diablo
Dragon Age
World of Warcraft
Gran Turismo
Call of Duty
Burnout
…and so on and so forth.
When you really like a feature in a game, and that game can make YOU look cool, whether it’s custom equipment, pictures, avatars, tattoos, replays or similar, it’s understandable that you want it in a game you see potential in.
My hope is that Brink will be filled to the brim with excactly that, and i already have six friends that also have preordered on gamestop.
