Brink - Video card dosn't support OpenGL or newer

(FrozenZkull) #1

Hi, I just wanted to know if this is a bug that CAN get fixed or is it just alot of people who have outdated graphic cards?

If it’s a bug that it crashes:
Does it get fixed anytime soon?

If it is an outdated graphic card:
How the hell am I, that knows NOTHING about computers supposed to do anything?

And just to say another thing. I’ve waited MONTHS for this game and planned a Brink weekend with one of my mates. We used the WHOLE day yesterday, trying to get this game working.

Thanks,

(kilL_888) #2

plz post your system specs so we can evaluate if theres any help for you.

(im guessing its an onboard graphics?)

(FrozenZkull) #3

Well as I said. I know nothing about computers aswell, I don’t know ANYTHING about my pc. I’ve updated some of the graphic stuff. Well I just want to know if it’s me that’s going to do something to it so I can play, or if it’s Splash Damage that got a big bug on the startup stuff?

(kilL_888) #4

no offense, but if you dont have any idea about your pc then educate yourself and “rtfm”.

no one can help you if we dont know what pc youre running the game on.

(FrozenZkull) #5

Well… That means I’ve wasted 2 days trying to get a game to work… God.

(Storm44) #6

Well I have the same issue here, since update 2, I got an error display instead of just " Brink stopped running".
I kinow that the 11.5a catalyst hotfix suposedly fixes things but as my computer is a Toshiba I’m stuck with a low 8-ish version. Anyway got this ermsg :

If anyone gamer, or splash-damage members got any idea/clue/guess about what can / can’t be done about it, I would love it.

Thanks

A sad sad gamer

(Eresis) #7

check here,i had the same issue http://www.splashdamage.com/forums/showthread.php?t=25691&highlight=opengl

(Storm44) #8

As far as I am concerned, I have an ATI HD3650 with toshiba and i was unable to update to 11.5a because tohshiba is ****.
But i found a cracked version available here :

I also unchecked Catalyst AI in the 3d pannel ( and its actually this unchecking that makes it work !!).

(Wieke) #9

Prepare to be educated! I’m going to tell you how you can look up the relevant information on any XP, vista or windows 7 machine!

First hit win + r (thats the windows button and the R button), type “dxdiag” in the window that just appeared and hit enter.
Now we’ve started directx’s diagnostic tools and we’re going to use it to look up your system’s processor, memory and graphics card. (If dxdiag askes if it should check for WHQL something or others just click OK.)
Processor and memory size should be listed on the “system” tab (it opens on the main tab). Your graphics card information is displayed on the tab “display”, the important bit is the name. Now post these and we’ll be able to tell if your system meets the requirments for Brink.

(FireWorks) #11

Google how to install normal drivers on an laptop:)

(FireWorks) #12

Not sure if your grafics card is supported. Maybe you can google how to install the latest real drivers for your laptop and have a workaround with it.

(Mustang) #15

@abormann321
Looks like you don’t meet the minimum specs of “NVIDIA 8800GS / ATI Radeon HD 2900 Pro”

(fruitgumbo) #16

HI I have the same problem, except that i have a brand new computer with an Intel Graphics HD Family video card. When i click to play Brink, a window comes up saying “The current video card / driver combination does not support OpenGL 3.1 or newer.” How can i fix this?

(Nail) #17

“Intel Graphics” replace this with a better vid card
