character customization is a minor part of the game, barbed wire arm bands should be avoided btw.

There are games like oblivion where you don’t even want to think twice of playing in third person, UGLY AVATARS. Especially the female avatars. I mean, have you even seen the female avatars from oblivion? Their facial features don’t even look female at all.
So, this means that I can focus on getting the cool upgrades instead of buying shirt upgrades. Also I don’t think anyone would care how you look. In Battlefield heroes, I don’t think anyone cares that you have that cool pirate shirt. I just can’t believe people pay real money to buy these shirts and also on Playstation Home? People spend REAL MONEY, like cents worth to buy virtual clothing. Just saddens me. The appearance of your avatar reflects heavily on what others think of you. That is, unless you are a game avatar narcissist.
I’m just saying that if character customization is a fairly big part of a game, and even a selling point, then the ability to actually see your character in-game seems logical. Even more so since other FPS games, with far less or no customization, have had this option.
Who said you won’t see your character ingame? I’m sure there will be plenty opportunity to show off your character as there has been a lot of effort put into the customization system. The short ingame scenes before, in the middle and after a match are one place where you may see your character.
Personally I don’t like 3rd person views. There have been games where climbing or other actions zoomed out the camera but that always felt rather distracting.
There are games like oblivion where you don’t even want to think twice of playing in third person, UGLY AVATARS.
Did you play Sacred 2? The shadow warrior has that awful walking animation. It looks like he sat down on a stick in a very unlucky way. :o
Yes I did think that
No 3rd person please
And tbh, I don’t think it will be included anyway
The character customization is about recognising other players, not gaping at yourself all day.
Is that called narcissism? Be careful or you may just as well turn into a flower, or so the story is told anyway.
Scratch that, I think it is called AVATAR narcissism. Be careful, or you may turn into a flower made of polygons. That is much better.
- i hope the game isn’t too chaotic in its gameplay.
for example everyone running/jumping around like the usual die/spawn/die games.
but also offers something more for the casual and laid back players…
like the objectives…
and for the console players?
Seeing your guy in cutscenes and at the end of rounds hardly counts as in-game.
I played a majority of Oblivion in third person, and played Morrowind exclusively in third person
You can focus on getting upgrades over shirts regardless of what view you are in…and if someone decided to buy outfits over skills, that’s their choice. I think skills and clothes are obtained through different methods anyway. Also, the third person isn’t so OTHER people can see me. They can see me reagardless. The third person is so I can see myself. I am the one putting all this time into my character, I should be able to see him as I’m playing.
to each their own. And I wouldn’t be ‘gaping’ at myself. I’m not going to run off in the map, and just ogle at myself…I would still be playing the game correctly. Like when I played SW: Battlefront. I almost always played in third person view.
If Brink is anything according to the past ET games then you’ll see your body when you get ‘killed’. But I’m not entirely sure because in some shots it looks as if fallen players in Brink have more options (perhaps even shooting?).

Well, we’re not doing a native 3rd person camera (I’ve done a lot of 3rd person games over the years, and it’s a TON of work to get the camera issues smoothed out, and that’s time we could spend on making the game better in other ways). However, customization is important to us, and there are actually a few different ways you can see your character during gameplay

Most important thing to the game right here. Competitive and casual players (and everyone in between) will want to play the game slightly differently, and let’s hope the custom options allow that to happen.
Well if it’s historically in the engine then it could be workable in the console versions to I guess. Just a menu option needed.
I do however think it raises a lot more problems in multiplayer as stated you have a totally different FOV. Even if you only enabled it for single player and playback you’d hit the issue of gamers wondering why it didn’t work in MP.
I’d rather see them include better demo tools for all systems.

Still good too know that you are addressing the game in an overall way, instead of adding other extra`s…
but would it be an option and possible to have the third person camera view for lets say an DLC, TU, Update, Patch.?
and thus adding it afterwards?

I know Rahdo didn’t say it but why even implement a camera mode that would imbalance an online First Person Shooter.
As I mentioned earlier, other First Person Shooters had this option. I use to play UT 2003/2004 and Star Wars Battlefront in third person view.
In UT2003 and 2004 the third person view was part of the cheat set and not possible in multiplayer.
In UT3 there was indeed a form of third person view as a part of an optional ‘titan mutator’, in this case it was a power up more than anything.
