I wouldn’t mind steam compatibility, most of my friends are on steam any who. Wouldn’t be too keen on strictly steam, but would like it to work with it properly.
Brink: Steam & Anticheat
Steam==nonsense.
in both security[in both sensese],performance, reliability, privacy.
some was attracted by low prices, some by Steam-only published stuff[which is hilariously(and dangerously)did us DoD for AA3, for example ;-], some invited by “friends”.
but that a trap.
and those Evil services are road to Hell !!
rise brother and sisters and destroy those evil manifestations once and forever !!
+random cough+cough.
/irony off
what for ?
this is obviosly true.
for anyone, who didn’t noticed /irony tag inside.
p.s.
please ?
how much this in cash ?[cause analysis/insvestigation/data mining/hiring people 4 it and etc and etc is not cheap, you know]
Not denying just saying that peak/total players per day aren’t necessarily indicative of what games an individual gamer plays. I often play L4D1 and L4D2 on the same day. And again I expect CS players who would have left did so some time ago.
MMmm okay. If it’s Steam only then you won’t get the disparity between a developer/publisher release and a Steam packaged one. Also the Steam platform means everyone gets the patches and as often as the developer likes to release them. None of this silly wait 3 months to bundle everything into a nice big patch.
Steam can be compulsory and still sell in retail where I’d wager a lot of people don’t give a thought about DRM or Steam being installed.
If you like creating new, seperate accounts for each game you buy sure. I have a healthy Steam collection going so have a financial interest in not hacking as well as a moral one. As Voxie said, there is also the social factor of hopping from account to account.
This always makes me laugh. You have a gaming rig that’s put down on it’s knee by running Steam? Perhaps you need to upgrade or lay off the weak sauce.
First off my gaming rig is one of the best out there, so you’re an idiot for saying “weak sauce” anything. I choose not to have steam running because its useless. I use xfire and I dont like clutter… alot of people feel this way, maybe you dont, sorry sloppy kid.
Creating new accounts? well if someone is a cheater, they probably cheating in the past, therefore making new accounts is what they are use too and their form of communication is probably xfire or something else… Ive mingled with cheaters before in the past because I went to college with 2 coders from netcoders most of your guys pathetic attempt to justify anything is quite hilarious. Its inevitable to stop cheats, even though just because I know people who code them in real, doesnt mean I agree with them…
I have nothing more to say because most of you are trying to help, which is cool I have nothing against that, but you are also idiots in denial of reality.
O one last thing… “MMmm okay. If it’s Steam only then you won’t get the disparity between a developer/publisher release and a Steam packaged one. this is utter crap, I suggest you talk to more people instead of looking into the mirror. Bad company 2 is a great example… You can easily check the forums now while the game is in “beta” its on steam, but ALOT of people have posted they want a DVD copy of the game, so therefore your theory is retarded and you are simple minded.
Game should be both steam and retail, serve both purposes aka segmenting groups, but Im sure alot of you dont know nothing about marketing so this is over your head.
Im out.
Whoa, aimology. Do try to keep things civil please. What we’re discussing is very subjective; calling people who disagree with you idiots and retards only reflects badly upon yourself. Why is it that every thread on these forums always ends up like this?
Why they end up like this?
It’s simple math really: the more people flowing into this forum, the lower the tapirs-to-people ratio. This obviously has a negative impact on moderation and mood.
Also, Steam DVDs are nothing more than partial downloads of the game. If you want to play “Steamless”, you still need to crack the game.
Anyway, I’m not going to read the entire thread here or steam will start coming out of my ears.
And the more ridiculous and heated the discussion becomes the less chance of SD contributing to the thread.
I’d love to know whether Steamworks requires Steam installation or whether it can be built into the game independently.
Whether Steam DRM is a requirement for Steam distribution.
Would you be able to install and play the game without a net connection at a Lan party.
Yeah, that kind of was a rhetorical question (though poorly phrased). I’m not totally naïve when it comes to estimating the average tact of forum-goers.
STEAM:
If i want to sell a game with steam …
is that possible and what must i do to revoke my serial number?
If someone knows it please let me know, thx in advance.

You can’t.
Nothing wrong with Steam, IMO, although I personally prefer a stand-alone install and proprietary anticheat, TBH. Having to buy on Steam would not prevent me from making a purchase, nor would it encourage me.
in some countries illegal to make selling anything “illegal” by supplier :-/
as well as 1-side service/EULA revocation in case of laws violation.

Really? Cause I’m 100% sure I play Call of Duty 4 with out a “haxed version” which I downloaded from steam, but guess what… It’s not my steam… It’s a friends steam… Then I copied the .exe to my desktop and it Loads the game with out a crack or steam running. So, you are wrong. Try again.
:stroggbanana:
CoD4 isn’t a steam release; it was added afterwards. You are wrong. Try again.
