Hey all. I’ve been offline for a few weeks…
We got a release date, finally.
Q: any news on brink pc servers?
and Why don’t we meet up on release date to play amongst us forum members. I’d be xxxing thrilled to see what we all are made of OR to beat the game COOPERATIVELY!
lemme know who’s up for that…
brink server news needed / forum gaming
I will probably host a server as soon as it comes out, if there is a demo coming and I find it good enough to buy
None whatsoever, but I have my own dedicated server anyway and they better allow private server hosts
rrright! so technically if a pre-release date demo convinced u i may have the first server i’m goin to join! yeah
I doubt i’ll be able to get it on day one for a reasonable price. Demo might sway my vote.
Brink Addict will have a dedicated server hosted in the UK that will be running the game, hopefully we get the server files for release day.
Well, we have a dedicated box, so we’ll be running a number of servers on it assuming there’s not some weird deal where you have to rent from just one vendor.
I’m imagining we’ll have a “play now” server set up with standard format for accepting gamers who just click “go on line” or whatever it is you click without going through a server browser, as well as others set for typical server browser mode, inluding (assuming I get my way
one set to run stop watch mode (FF and VOIP on of course). Wouldn’t be surprised to see us running at least 4 different servers when the time comes (I think we have 5 BO’s servers up right now).
that reads awesome, guys.
hopefully when the date draws near we can get the troops together and meet on one server! shakingwithdelightanddroolingoverkeyboard
Came across this, obviously from last year and not official info… but it’s… interesting. Would be cool if SD/Beth could comment on public server files.
second that! i’m 100% sure there was a post of an announcentment last year, but i couldn’t track it down.
much appreciated if something could be cleared in the near future…
Exactly, when I get a demo which convinces me, I will get the game on release date
Wouldn’t turn down a demo but I think it makes more sense on the PC to do free weekends. People get full access to the game, see all the content, already have everything installed and when the hook is set they click a button and are playing the full game.
For consoles I’m not sure but then again on consoles you just trade in the game or rent it so there is, funnily enough, less reason to have a demo.
BTW - I know it’s only recently announced but I’m guess that Brink isn’t secretly using the Steam API on the PS3?
If the free weekend is shortly after the release and not several months afterwards then yeah.
A one map demo should be enough though to tell how good or not the game can be, unless they pick Valley for the map that is.

I suppose with Steam they can pretty much flick a switch for that sort of thing when sales slow down. Not sure what effect having a free weekend very close to release would have.
LOL Valley (I did write, then deleted a bit about it) is exactly why I don’t think demos suit this type of game beyond a means to judge performance and quality/feel. If they want to hook people they need to give access to the whole game.
I’m curious how you would set up your server for free play in terms of sorting players by rank. Do you set up the server so it only allows, say rank 0-5, or does it sort by rank based on the first person who joins up? Maybe there’s some global thing where the master server switches it automatically based on demand? That last actually makes the most sense (at least as an option), that way you just say “I want this server to run as a default freeplay server”, and no other game settings to change, then it will set the rank based on demand.
Of course, you would want the option to set the rank yourself, so you could set up a server like: Beginners Park, rank 0-5 only.
I will be hosting at least 2-3 servers if they give server files. Been sick with BC2 and BO BS of ranked/unranked servers and no server files.
COD4, CSS still has more servers then BC2 and it’s fact. Game selling for PC happens based on community hosting servers for there clan.
I would also convert my few ET servers to Brink.
Been looking forward for Brink. Every member of my clan is to be honest including COD members.
