Would anybody play a mod/game mode that changes the game up significantly to play more like the ET series? Examples would be like taking the class items out normally and not binding everything to one button to use. Instead, bind items to the actual objective items. Throwing buffs around could still use the same button since there’s so many of them.
Medics feel really crippled with their ability to res people on the fly. Throwing the syringe was supposed to speed the game up but half the time you can’t throw the syringe on the fly because it doesn’t “lock on” in time. This really kills the flow as a medic and makes you slow down, risking to get shot up, just to assure you have somebody got the syringe. The old method in ET was a lot more sure and faster in the long run. Now I’m not saying remove the syringe using out completely, just make it where you can actually throw it without locking on and it will automatically go to somebody in the general area. It will get rid of the general issues with a medic and still keep it fresh.
Engineers doing objectives/repairing is very annoying as well. There’s a lot of time wasted getting stuff done right now as an engineer since you can’t take the torch out before hand. You have to wait an extra second to take it out to even start doing it. Likewise for putting it away, you cant run away fast enough since you’re still locked into position until you put it away.
Soldiers trying to arm explosives has the same issues with engineer right now. Old ET style would make it much easier for solders to get explosives on. The bomb should also be placed on first, THEN armed. Engineers could remove it after being placed. So there would be 2 steps to arming the explosives. Just cut the time down on actually putting it on and making the arm long.
Operatives right now are a total train wreck with hacking right now. I like the idea of the hack box and being able to disable it as an engineer, but as a spec ops its just too hard to hack. The hack tool has a range which supposedly gives them more flexibility but it also screws them over. If they have to take a weapon to defend themselves they have to run all the way back to the hack box and hit F again to take the PDA out. This really limits spec ops so much on how far they can actually run to. If spec ops could take out their pda whenever after assigning it to a hack box it would make hacking so much easier. As it is now hacking is the hardest objective because of how long and risky it takes.
Just some thoughts out there to get an old ET feel to the game. Right now the game feels really stunted, but that’s just me.
