Brink price hike for Aussies on Steam?

The pre-order price since the game was first available on Steam was $49 USD, but all of a sudden it’s $89 USD.

Can someone please explain the insanity of this 90% price hike?

I pre-purchased before this nonsense, but a lot of my friends didn’t and now most of them don’t intend to purchase the game. So now I am left with the tough decision to ask steam for a refund or hope I’ll find others to play with.

I worry this is going to destroy any chance for Brink to build a sustainable multiplayer community in Australia. We already have slim pickings for multiplayer servers for most games due to having a much lower population than other regions but now, this seems as good as waving the white flag before the battle has begun.

So sad and disappointing.

I hope this is just some kind of accounting mistake or the person sailing the ship that made this decision gets a good slap’n and comes to their senses.

I really want to like this game Splash-Damage, but damn, you’re making it hard!

In England you can still buy it from the shop for the equivalent of 40 USD

Kinda sucks. There was some discussions of the topic, here, too.

Not Splash Damage, Bethesda.
