BRINK PC Suggestions (devs please read)

Concerning PC Multiplayer.

In order for BRINK PC to succeed in sales after/before release, these standard multiplayer features must be implemented for the PC version:

*Spectator mode - ability to spectate a player ingame. (useful for cheating prevention)

*Demo recorder - ability to record a player or themselves ingame. (This can be server-side or client-side your choice for what’s best)

*Kick-Player / Kick-Ban Player - ability to kick players or ban players. (This can be ingame feature or Third-Party tool)

*Standard Server Admin abilities - change map, game-mode etc.

*Mod Tools - This is needed for competitive gaming.

*Dedicated Server Files - Needed for us to host servers.

*Server Browser - favourite servers etc.

Take a look at their past games, Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory and Enemy Territory: Quake Wars

I think you will find that they have already addressed most of those issues in the past, and I see no reason for them not to do it again.

The demo recorder is questionable, I’ve heard no mention of in-game ability to do it.

Mod tools may not be available on release, but SD has a long history of supporting the mod community. Heck, they started as PART of the modding community. I’m pretty sure they will provide a toolset, it just might be a download at a later date.

I honestly think Splash Damage knows how to make MP-FPS games for the PC…

(prophett) #4

No demo recording would be just awful…

(BMXer) #5

agreed. Demos are a must for a number of reasons.

What’s demo recording?

BRINK is the first multi-platform game they’ve developed so am kinda worried. I remember BRINK was delayed for like 1 or 2 times. You wouldn’t see that happening in COD games because of Activision greedy reasons. It’s probably the only reason why MW2/Black Ops are console ports. Bethesda did not rush Splash Damage for obvious reasons. I’m hoping the PC version benefited from the delays.

@Whydmer

Infinity Ward did know how to make MP-FPS PC games but since it went multi-platform the PC version became a after-thought.

Great list.

Some other main concerns that many console ports mess up on:

[ol]
[li]Mouse movement. There should be NO mouse acceleration, mouse smoothing, deadzone, negative mouse accel, or anything else ruins the movement. It needs to be raw mouse input, nothing getting in the way of the mouse and the game.[/li]
[li]FOV. The FOV should be adjustable to at least 90 degrees horizontal. And if it’s not adjustable, make the default FOV 90.[/li]
[li]Hold crouch and Toggle crouch. Hold ADS and Toggle ADS. We need the option to choose between toggle and hold.[/li]
[li]An interface that works well with a mouse and keyboard and uses it’s advantages.[/li]
[li]A server browser that can filter ping, maps, gametype, server name, etc…[/li][/ol]

Brink doesn’t have ports. It was developed simultaneously for three systems.

Dev console…
This is a must.

Hope they add mouse and keyboard support like MW2. fingers crossed

It doesn’t seem like SD is calling the shots with BRINK but Bethesda is. I don’t have as much faith in them as I have in SD.

What makes you think that ???

(15% or more) #14

You are aware that the game comes out 5-17-11? It seems to be a little late for content suggestions.

For clanwars, you also need :

 • “pause” option if someone lost its connection, or if there is something to clarify in the middle of the game

 • password protected servers

 • toincoss who is attacking first

love it all

(Auzner) #17

Amazing suggestions, send some tips to Steven Spielberg after this.

(Linsolv) #18

I’ve got a tip for Stephen Spielberg, but I think he might have already gotten it. It’s “Why don’t you make garbage remakes or sequels to every good movie you’ve ever made?”

Honestly, I wouldn’t worry a whole lot about a console port, since it’s built on a PC engine that was ported to console in the first place.

(Herandar) #19

Release the Tintin movie today!

If I were a dev, Id never open a thread that has (devs please read) right in the title. Especially when it is like a bazillionth one, especially when Im in current development phase.

What the **** makes you think this **** has not been talked to death already.
