Brink party matchmaking system, 6 vs 6 on consoles.

Now I’ve yet to play Brink so this all just an educated guess on my part, however I have been gaming online for over seven years.

Now most if not all p2p games keep player numbers to a max of 12, CoD/Halo etc. More players than that in a game and its usually run on servers like Killzone or Battlefield. This is because of the lag, CoD and Halo do have big team battles but they are terrible to play 95% of the time. It’s a fact of modern gaming/internet speeds that, in my experience, large online games on console are not really possible via p2p. Just a note to anyone who will say I play in big games without lag, your most likely the host, congratulations on affording a high upload broadband connection.

Now I know some guys are struggling with just a few player and bots but the game still has to track the bots/bullets etc and send the info via the host. Also having bots and join in progress always causes a hit in connection with inevitable lag for a few seconds.

So surely if games were 6 vs 6 with party matchmaking a lot of the lag could be eliminated? You should have less trouble finding a game with friends, less players joining in progress and overall a more stable game. It’s either that or dedicated servers and even Epic is having issues with them and of course they are expensive.

Just as a note, my friends and I all liked Crysis 2 but the lag killed it for us. We traded it in with in a week.

Played this 5 vs 5 on my mates 2meg up connection with randoms with no lag at all our end. So I does work, I just think the game isn’t picking the best host.
