Brink official Demo or Beta

Hi there! Can it be avaible and when? I am of the opinion that Bethedsa should make some open beta-test before they turn out the game…

Welcome to the site. There are several threads on betas in this forum, officially however there has been no decision made if or when it might happen.

A demo I hope will be produced, this is just good service to prospective customers. Although on PC we might (my speculation) see free weekends on Steam rather than a demo release.

Yea, thanks) I <3 SD and hope this game get a god ratings.

Ofcourse it will, but only for pre-purchased players, u know - steam likes it :stroggtapir:

Not really up to Steam, more Bethesda’s choice how they play and promote things.

So far the only pre-order bonus is in game content. I’ll throw out there that it’s possible pre-orders may get access to some beta/preview closer to the release date. Although it’s just as likely a beta may be on the 360 or PS3 and not the PC. Who knows?

For the free weekends though I think they’re a much better tool to sell a multiplayer game. You get access to the game, lots of people are trying it at the same time so you’re not hitting that learning wall. Then SD yanks away the crack and you’re eager to pay to buy more.

So long as it’s a nice straight forward easy game though. Objective games tend to have that learning curve. Free weekends are generally suited better to insta-pwn games.

Welcome to the forums

I’ve made a post about this somewhere. Here it is!

So to be honest I doubt there will be some kind of open beta/demo unless they happen to solve the stuff they’re working with very much faster then planned. As the splashdamage guys quite often say. “Our first prio is to get the game done”.

Oh, not this again
hopefully we get a demo when it’s gone gold

This is something that has been discussed many times. I really would think it would help the game. From both balancing side and getting the word out (as a demo).

(Voltech) #9

What if Brink blurred the lines between Beta and Demo as well =P

Hell I’d pay $5.00 for an extended Demo similar to Dead Rising!

(tokamak) #10

Then you get a beta being treated as a demo, which is the worst possible outcome of making such a thing.

(Apples) #11

jeebus multiplicated the bread, we do the same for the threads here, use the research function ffs!

(Feelgood) #12

They will let us beta the Valley map till our eyes bleed. How’s that??

(halex) #13

Therefore I am jeebus?

A demo and a beta are supposed to be two very different things. You’re either checking to see if you like the game or you’re playing the game in order to give feedback on how to improve it, never both at the same time.

Free weekends for pre-purchased players… Steam never did such a thing.
