Brink now hangs and stops responding.

Basically this seems to be happening after patch, or maybe I just didn’t notice beforehand however my game now randomly starts to freeze and stop responding.

I’ve had this a few times since patch. never happened before Friday’s patch.

(neks) #3

my computer (3-week old build) started to hang hard on Friday after the last patch.

Friday night:
I start playing with the patch and it looks fine. At the end of the first map, game hangs and i have to hard reboot.
After that, same thing happens and the computer would hang hard during the first map (sometimes at the end)
reboot is required, no back to windows.
computer started hanging at reboot (sometimes during POST, sometimes after logging into Win) following a crash.
I’m pissed off and go to bed.

Saturday
I tested the mobo because I had to RMA the first one and it seems fine.
I removed one of the Ram stick and it reboots fine. must be the ram. I keep the stick that I assume is defective out and play like 3/4 hours.
No crash, no OpenGL crash. must be the Ram, yay!

Sunday
I decide to put back the “bad” ram stick in and wait for it to crash again so I’m sure that my bad review on Newegg is justified.
I play 1 or 2 maps and it doesn’t crash. weird…
I decide to run memtest but it gives me no error (:/)

Yesterday
I play one map fine but computer crashed during 2nd map.
I reboot and get a CMOS checksum bad error. Ok, so I set it to factory settings like I did when I installed it. It reboots fine.
I ran Prime95 for 8 hours, no error.

tl;dr
I think I have the same problem and it looks like it could be the game but I get a mixed bag of symptoms/errors although stress testing my machine gives no error.

Please share your thoughts if you think of something else I should check.

Can I do dxdiag after a reboot if it happens again?
