I disagree with you whole-heartedly. Now that the excitement of seeing new advertising content has worn off, let me mention a few things that I think are wrong with this video.
-
It is CGI, not in-engine. In this generation (even in the last generation), unless you are advertising a game based entirely on its narrative (e.g., Alan Wake, Heavy Rain) CGI just serves to mislead, or even be dismissed as not at all indicative of what we can expect.

This vid, with little narrative save the gorgeous set pieces, should have been the very first game reveal vid, not the video shown months before the game releases, after we have already seen in-engine footage and know more about the game than this video reveals.

Are they showing us that Brink is like TF2 - all action, no story? That is fine, if they also show that there is humor and distinct classes. While each character is incredibly unique in appearance, they are all basically alike in function. If, for example, the final kill was performed by a spy, there is no “decloaking” etc. to let us know that indeed, that is the class being represented. Functionally, these are just Halo Spartans of equality parquoring around.

They showed gameplay elements that we know are not in the game - the molotov and the sniper rifle. If that isn’t a sniper rifle, then SD is playing a game of semantics. Functionally, that is a long range, scoped weapon - a sniper rifle. That is just wrong. A huge WTF?! If this is another crate city inside joke, then it went right over my head, again.
It is very pretty, and I love the Mad Max like apocalyptic setting/costuming.
In my opinion, this is a promotional video that was developed many months ago that Bethesda felt couldn’t just be shelved because it looked too good and was too expensive. It was not originally created for this time and place in the game’s marketing plan.
… meh I just thought it was pretty
