Brink Fl0p

(naedae) #1

hey guys. im really excited about this game. one thing im hoping it doesnt do is FLOP. alot of games were overhyped. an example is homefront. they let loose hundreds of balloons advertising their game, which became a buggy mess.

ive been thinking. after brink, there are no quality shooters coming out until FALL :frowning:
so y’know, im really hoping it doesnt flop because its all or nothing with this game.

one thing im REALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLY worried about is replayability. i mean, wont it get boring repeating the same missionis over and over again knowing what will happen in the end?

and also, it wouldnt be hard for SD to include a tdm and a demolition type game mode to appeal to more gamers right?

last but not least… NO MICRO$OFT SHENANIGANS AMIRIGHT??? IM TIRED OF M$ GETTING DLC EARLY FOR MULTIPLATFORM GAMES…

thank you:D

I played ETQW alot (which is the same objective based gameplay) and the missions never got old. After a while you get a feel for how long each specific objective should take - which helps ramp up the pressure if you know your team is behind on time.

First question:
Quake Wars never got boring to me, so I don’t think it’s getting boring if you play the way the game should be played.

Second Question:
I haven’t been around this forum for a while, but the whole TDM thingy has been discussed a thousand times before. If you want TDM, go get a game offering it. Why do games always have to be random to be liked?

Left for Dead… a game that was so simple yet so good.

I fail to see how adding a storyline to a game makes it less enjoyable. Most games only have 1-2 dozen maps anyway, with only a single objective on each one. Brink has a similar number but with multiple varying objectives for each one.

Most players I know stick to one gametype anyway. Having lots of different missions for each map should make it more replayable, if anything.

(hamstein) #6

In CS:S you have people that only play dust or office.
In Half Life Death-match I only ever played crossfire.
In BF2142 I only ever played titan mode (of which there were definitely less than 8 maps for).

(DarkangelUK) #7

It’s the same with any game, regardless of the amount of available maps, even hosted servers only have a rotation of about 6-10 maps at most… and when the maps change most vote back to their fave anyway. I can guarantee in all of my Quake Live CA games, it’s always the same 4-5 maps that we swap to… if that.

(tokamak) #8

I only played a few deathmatch games because in the end I just got bored, I found that it’s always the one with the highest bodycount that won the map. Most boring mission ever.

(RumRunner) #9

what tok you’re saying you don’t like the ā€œpoint gun, shoot guy/spam insta-kill-throwable, receive e-viagraā€ style of cod? <insert random ā€˜but cod is the bestest evars and such’ statements that cannot be said/typed with a straight face here>

as a side note… oh look another one of those ā€œcan we have tdmā€ threads… been a little while since i’ve seen one of these… sigh but sadly not long enough…

(tokamak) #10

What I’m saying is that a multiplayer incorporating missions can’t possibly have less replayabillity than a multiplayer that has no missions at all (all other factors being the same).

Someone who thinks this is the case clearly hasn’t ever played objective-based multiplayer before.

(trigg3r) #11

brink is a multiplayer shooter, each game you play should be a different experience 'cause you’ll be playing with different ppl.

and also, it wouldnt be hard for SD to include a tdm and a demolition type game mode to appeal to more gamers right?

so you said it’d be boring doing the same missions and now you’re asking for ateam deathmatch mode?

Brink will be a paradigm shift for fps. I have no worries. Least of all I’m not worried about buying it being a waste of money.

(Mustkunstn1k) #13

Well… I loved SD’s previous games and Brink seems to have a lot of awesome features. I just hope they will have good PC support.

I mean I’m sure some people will be like ā€œno tdm OMGZZā€ but they are just idiots who don’t realise that the game is built around it and there are other games for random modes.

Untrue.

(kratier) #15

i think solely for the amount of polish and how great it looks overall its worth a purchase, like the customization, the way it looks, how sleek everything looks

Very, Mirrors edge was that shift.

2 Fps games coming out this year use the movement similar to mirrors edge.

(Slade05) #17

Pffft, defrag did all of that like hundred years ago.

(General Wolfens) #18

They will offer SDK within the release of Brink, no? Was said once by SD

(Crytiqal) #19

another ā€œI am worried about BRINKā€ thread? sigh

Wrong

Mirror’s Edge demonstrated only a piece of what’s in Brink.

No game has done:
abilities, xp, gun mods, unlocks, classes, parkour ability levels, dress up doll, objectives all in one. It has everything but persistent world or faction wars.
