Just to let everyone know, a new dedicated server update is now available on Steam/HLDS.
Brink Dedicated Server - New Update
Full changelog is here: http://www.splashdamage.com/content/new-brink-pc-update-brings-end-game-chat-and-lots-more
Most importantly for admins, the server is now significantly smaller (about a third of the original size), no longer shuts down upon losing connection to Steam, and we’ve also got a bunch of networking optimisations in there.
Ok, what I did is rename my old server folder from brink to brink1, and then I ran the hldstool.
This would be the correct way of obtaining the smaller/newer/incompatiible-with-older-ded update right?
That it no longer shuts down when steams falls out, thats just perfect
Good question or do we need to install all files from scratch?
Thanks to SD for the server fixes . They are wonderful
edit: answered my own question LOL
I deleted the old servers and reinstalled. Holy cow it took less than a minute
Too little too late. Enjoy losing fan base. No one’s going to touch SD after this fiasco.
Nice update, serveur are running, showing in steam browser, but unabled to connect to them thru direct connection, and not showing in browser…
Took a little while after the update to come up, but one of our servers is now correctly showing in the server browser and connections work fine (ie., we didn’t do anything special it came good on its own).
One positive and one negative in the server update - first, the positive:
[ul]
[li]Yay, the “listclients” command to get a list of clients connected to the server![/li][/ul]
Now the negative:
[ul]
[li]Boo, the output gives a munged name (all-lowercase, spaces and other punctuation removed, etc.) but even that doesn’t really matter - no report of GUID/SteamID64 to uniquely identify the player/account (players can all-too-easily change their names).[/li][/ul]
Oh well, one step at a time I guess.

You shouldn’t need to rename or move anything
Just turn the server off, run hldsupdatetool, turn server back on
Well, I did that to make sure I had a new fresh install
I just deleted the brink1 folder afterwards.
