BRINK Crashes on "Black Box" and "What-if Chopper Down"

I’m having an issue running two missions in BRINK, both when trying to initially launch the mission. When I try to launch What-if: Chopper Down and Black Box, the game freezes at the loading screen (I can see the small circular animation in the top right stop moving) and then crashes after about 5 seconds.

This happens EVERY time I attempt to launch the missions, with nothing changing.

To be clear, you have tried to run this map when connecting to different servers, and in Solo (visibility set to ‘Solo’), and the issue occurs exactly the same?

Your graphics drivers are slightly out of date, but that’s probably not the issue (still worth updating, though).

I’ve not seen this before, so my gut feeling is that it might be a corrupted download. The map files are all included in the same pak file and it’s possible that file has not been downloaded properly. Follow the steps below:

Verify integrity of game cache

[li]Open your Steam Games Library[/li][li]Right-click on Brink and select Properties[/li][li]Click on the Local Files tab and select Verify integrity of game cache[/li][li]The game will reacquire any files that are missing, corrupt or did not completely finish downloading[/li][li]Once the download has fully completed, start Brink[/li][/ol]

If the above does not resolve the issue, delete the following files and verify the game cache a second time. This will cause the bulk of the game to be redownloaded, so may take some time.

You’ll need to delete the following files from …\Steam\steamapps\common\brink\base

You’ll also need to delete these two files from [B]…\Steam\steamapps[/B]

The next suspect would be an odd rendering incompatibility, which is why I’d recommend you update your drivers.

First, yes, this issue occurred both in Solo and when connecting to different servers.

I tried to verify the integrity of the game cache, and it seems you were right, that fixed the problem for me, and I had to Re-download some files, but after that, the missions worked fine.
