Brink crash connection

(bybzii) #1

Starting yesterday it seems like when I either browse any Internet games or is fast enough to join one, my whole connection crashes after a short while. It only happens once it seems, so if it crashes, then I wait 2 minutes until it reconnects, then I can play again like normal.

I tried to open some ports but it didn’t seem to help.

Anyone have this problem aswell? Any suggestions?

I’ve got the exact same thing.

Browsing servers is fine, when trying to connect it gives a ‘Timed out’, then crashes my internet connection.
I find this very annoying especially in a house with multiple people using internet.

Fix this please.

Okay it definately doesn’t work anymore now. If I even manage to connect to a server, I can play for about 30 seconds tops and then get thrown out saying connection to the session has been lost. I can go on for about 3-4 attempts and get thrown out every time, and eventually whole connection crashes.

Any solutions on this?

Getting the same thing, and solutions found?

Same thing here

Played the game for 2 hours. Everything was fine. Now, suddenly same problem as discribed above. The serverlist loads 1 time, but after some seconds the ping goes up to 999 and my internet connection is gone. Tryed it several times now. Horrible :frowning:

Kinda same problem here since the last patch.

When I launch Brink and browse the server list I get suddenly disconnected, while that checking the router isnt the root of the problem it looks like Brink would cause a deactivition of my network adapter. At least it feels like it. Also radio stream that is always running in background stops when a disconnect happens in Brink.

This happens random and is very annoying.
The game turns out like the story of Don Quijote…there are endless bugs and it doesn’t stop…

edit
For clarification:
It is not the router connection to the internet. This is running flawlessly. It’s the as i said the network adapter on your motherboard.

For connection issues, try the following:

  1. Forward UDP ports 27015 - 27016 and 8766 to your computer’s IP address. (May need to ensure your computer is set up with a static IP address in the router’s DHCP configuration).
  2. Update your router’s firmware.
  3. Disable any router Firewall settings.
  4. Disable IP Flood Protection in your router.
  5. If using a seperate router and modem, try connecting your computer directly to the modem. (If it works connected directly to your modem, the problem lies with the router).

For help with any of this for your brand router, you’ll need to refer either to your user’s manual, or the manufacturer’s web site.

If you still have issues, or you’ve determined via step 5 that the problem lies with the router, please post your router’s make and model so we can determine any trends in terms of a particular brand or model. Also list any traffic monitoring or limiting software you may have on your computer (such as a software firewall or IP blocker)

This issue is definitely not a router issue! At least if you dont have a creepy router firewall enabled. In my case it isn’t and the Windows Firewall is working properly so there must be another root of the cause. Steam can also fully access the windows firewall and as I said before, before the latest patch the game had not this issue…

(Moonlighter) #10

Maybe it’s a language issue, but I don’t see where you’ve shown how you’ve ruled out a router issue. How did you go about verifying it isn’t something wrong with the router when you are disconnected?

The LEDs on my router are all glowing as they should then it is connected to the internet.
I can ping it and i have no weird firewall settings in the router because I need a working connection also to remote administrate this (my) computer.

As i mentioned before, if you would read… BEFORE the last patch the game was working like a charm, ok maybe not like a charm but it was working fine for me, but since the last patch I get random disconnects which I definitely had not before and I did no change at all to my computer. Just after I figured out: oh it disconnects, ok I will update my nic drivers but this also didnt fixed it.

None of this rules out a router issue. There are still reasons why your router could temporarily drop connection, and pretty quickly re-establish the connection. And if Splash Damage modified the net code in Brink last patch, that change could be triggering something within your router to cause this issue.

(donmichelangelo) #13

ok so far, but in this case I await from you a plausible, in detail technical example of that what you are talking about.

Please tell me how Brink can crash my router.

(Moonlighter) #14

Just off the top of my head, too many outbound pings in a short amount of time can trigger ping flood protection on some router firewalls. Granted, this is more likely to happen on the server browser than connecting to the game. And in fact has caused problems for some people that have posted on this forum in the past.

(ezralock) #15

i have got exactly the same thing, please can you developers take this on board!!!

I only play this on the net and if that isn’t working i’m not going to be playing it at all, have really been wanting to play this for a long time, have waited for a fix for this for ages…nothing.

Its not my router, have tried this in 4 different houses, all with different routers. Check the settings and are all good.

I really want to be on your side splashdamage but you are shooting yourselves in the foot when i can’t even play your game. Have not been able to play the game for over a month now!!! Very disappointing. Until this gets fixed it is back to team fortress for me. Unbelievably poor and slightly embarrassing to be honest…

I am having solution of it but it might or may not work, as it had worked for me except before on, during an exertion to fix several graphics tribulations inside brink, I attempted more than a few recommended console commands. A churn out one of those commands is what ruined videos! I am surprise if someway this console command is receiving situate for public unintentionally. For Additional Information Click here
