Is the depth of field really that prominent in the game?
Is the depth of field really that prominent in the game?
It’d be great if the level of detail was from actual in-game graphics (the bottom of the tank top, the dreads, his muscle/skin tone and reflectiveness just look amazing!), but the blur on the end of the shotgun suggest to me that it’s been tinkered with a little bit. I’ve never seen anything like that in a game before. The background I suppose could be in-game but again either they’ve used really high end assests and tinkered with it or just set the image up for some reason and use features not available in the finished game. Even on PC that image would be extremely impressive.

(Auzner) #23

I always disable dof in games when allowed. It’s probably used more in the cinematics.

(evo) #24

so there isnt going to be a demo

(madoule) #25

no (just a HUNCH)

(Nail) #26

demo ?

[maybe, how long AFTER release is a guess, probably dependent on sales]

changed my mind

(Auzner) #27

No one does demos anymore. That’s become a high expectation of any game.

(Herandar) #28

Really??

Oh, wait, you mean PC. Never mind…

Even still, Civ 5 would like to disagree with you.

(beute) #29

even if it isnt an untouched ingame screenshot…

Just look at the container city part1 to 3 gameplay videos, look at them in HD.
AFAIK that is the only PC (video)footage we’ve got and it looks amazing.

(madoule) #30

dude, that wasn’t PC footage, can’t you see the PlayStation button in the interaction? as well we do know that this footage is alpha footage and lots have changed. radar, menus, XP counter…

(DoHo) #31

If it’s the same one I’m thinking of they were using Xbox controllers on PC’s - that’s what we were told anyway.

(madoule) #32

i guess on all those expos they used the “PC with XboX controller set up” so this video would be after the container city videos http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m2b-j1Yu8M

So with your counter example you are trying to say keep hoping for a Brink demo?

(badman) #34

We’re completely focused on finishing the main game right now and don’t have any news about a possible demo.

(Herandar) #35

No, I’m too much of a pessimist to ever say that. Just implying that saying “No one does x” is inaccurate, since there are still games that do have demos.

(Auzner) #36

Yeah, I’m aware there are still things called “demos” to date. Thanks for the info. I disregarded semantics to be dramatic. I won’t discuss this further lest I start on a console rant. In the future save this type of nitpicking for the people with terrible grammar and have every other word misspelled. They’re the ones you’re likely to be teaching something new.

(evo) #37

they should really put a demo out soon i cant wait for the game to come out

(Nail) #38

nope, going with sock dog here and say freeplay weekends on Steam are a much better idea than a demo, at least for PC types

(tokamak) #39

It’s not tinkered with by third applications (like photoshop).

However the screenshots are definitely set-up in the game’s engine, models posed and stuff like depth of field and field of view manually adjusted to nail the perfect shot.

So in other words, the game IS capable of producing such level of detail. But you won’t ever be able to create such perfect situations to take it in.

It wouldn’t require any effort on SD’s or Bethesdas part, it’s more a service Steam offers.

Yeah they did this for ET:QW I think, they are lots of stuff dotted around the SDK with suffixes like _E3

Find lots of interesting stuff when you dig around ,hopefully they don’t clean up too much again with Brink SDK
