A new story entry has been added:
[drupal=776]Brink Coverage Round-up: GameTrailers TV and Beyond[/drupal]

The weekend is very nearly upon us and we’ve amassed the very latest Brink coverage from around the internet for you to take with you. First up is the latest episode of GameTrailers TV, which includes a great segment on Brink featuring Game Director Paul ‘Locki’ Wedgwood along with all-new gameplay footage showing off the previously rarely glimpsed Aquarium environment.
You can either catch the full episode via the embed below or jump straight to the Brink segment in high resolution over on GameTrailers.

Elsewhere, Obnoxious Gamer looks at four must-have games for the Xbox 360, and we’re delighted to see Brink on this rather exclusive list. We’ve also had a bunch of new hands-on previews, including print heavyweights Official Xbox Magazine and PC Gamer:

Which is now the ‘a bit more than rarely glimpsed Aquarium environment’.

That footage on GT-TV was awesome. :stuck_out_tongue:

Edit: In 3:54 there is a “Kevlar Plate” buff. What class gives those out? How does it differ from just the health buff?

Also, it seems like the xp thing has changed. There is a counter for some things like turrents now and it also shows on the right side.

Yeh that looked good

It really has been great reading and watching all the information about Brink.

The thing that has impressed me most is the genuine enthusiasm and honesty that comes from the team at Splash Damage. They are creating a game that they themselves truly believe in and I think that will stand out in the form of polish.

I have never honestly played a better FPS than Wolf:ET and brink to me looks like Wolf:ET 2.0! I suspect it wont live up to my expectations because quite frankly they are so high.

I read alot on the forums as well about people’s questioning/concern about the foray onto consoles. I think this can only be a good thing for us PC gamers, putting many fingers in many pies has its advatages and a good game on console can only boost SD excellent reputation as a game developer.

Please keep doing the interviews and keep up the good work

I have a question in a PCGZine and a PC Gamer previews, there are no words about platform they playing, is it PC?, or PC magazine’s made a PC preview based on console version?

(3Suns) #7

Yeah, that GT footage was fantastic! It is great to see the game being played via the gamer’s perspective. The HUD looks great!

I wanted to capture a bunch of screenshots but GIMP kept crashing. Anyway, the game is gorgeous, and I love the colors and UI/HUD.

Go Fluffy! And I see badman is all about the turrets! WOOT!

Side counter is nothing new, it has been there for quite a while now, watch previous vids. If I recall well, it indicate the amount of XP (obviously) that you’re earning for one life, meaning that as soon as you die, the counter turn back to zero.

(Exedore) #9

It’s a per match counter, the only way you can lose XP is friendly fire damage.

(JeP) #10

Oh ok, didn’t understood that perfectly then ^^ But my thinking was more “once you respawn, the amount is earned and the counter gets back to zero to tell you what you’re earning in this new life” than losing the XP

(DouglasDanger) #11

This is awesome. Trolls used to ruin FF-on matches.

(Seyu) #12

I wonder if your xp can go in the negative.

(Mad Hatter) #13

Great interview. Great new footage. Aquarium looks really cool. Plenty of new info for me to absorb.

And of course he had to say “immense artificial floating city,” so… takes a shot

(BioSnark) #14

XP isn’t shared among all characters on an account so, alone, it won’t magically stop griefing, regardless of the answer to seyu’s question. That’s not to say it isn’t good for dissuading the trigger happy.

(Xerxes52) #15

Awesome, that Aquarium maps looks great!

(Mad Hatter) #16

One idea could be to increase the amount of XP lost the more a person hits their allies. Like it starts at -5 XP. Then the next shot that hits a friendly is -6. The next is -7 and so on and so forth. By the time you actually kill your friend you’ll be losing quite a bit of XP.

(Shackahn) #17

When the likes of Admin Mod was released for Wolf:ET players were auto kicked for X amount of team damage, I suspect it wont be too difficult to implement something similar

(ktr) #18

The Ziip preview mentioned that there is 128 weapons!

The last tally that crossed my ears, was 128 weapons, with a range of sights, add-ons, grips and various other attachments for each.

Is this true, or a typo for 128 weapon combinations?

[QUOTE=ktr;276567]The Ziip preview mentioned that there is 128 weapons!

Definitely a typo. Last I heard there were 24 weapons. 28 would be awesome though.

And with all the attachments, there are definitely more than 128 different combinations. A lot more.

Edit: In 3:54 there is a “Kevlar Plate” buff. What class gives those out? How does it differ from just the health buff?

I’m pretty sure the that is an Engineer buff. It differs from a health buff since it doesn’t boost your health, it boosts your damage resistance.

I don;t know if it boosts overall resistance, or just headshots or what. As a counter, the Soldier can distribute armor piercing rounds to teammates.
