Brink Coverage: Of Ending Genres, Sound Design and More

Cheers, badman! Actually, my friends list isn’t full of random people.. Seriously, it isn’t. Most of the people, with the exception of those who I have added recently (from this forum), I have known for years now, and are definitely my bros (some are even my sistas). If the bots took names of those with whom I was actually playing, then that would be problematic - but having it check to see if that name is already in the game, shouldn’t be a problem.

By the way, if it is problematic, how do you all manage seeing as you may be testing the game with a Bot Rahdo and a real life Rahdo in the room?

Ultimately, it is copacetic. In the end, I will get to know the names (nicknames?) of many more of you then, and it is kind of a cool way of giving the credits.

well, i think you limit your definition of the “end of the genre” to the objective, team based gameplay. thats old, i agree to that.

but it introduces something more that actually has not been seen before in shooters in that very way. and thats the parkour thing.

this will give so much more possibilities ingame and for leveldesigners, too, you have no idea.

i already see games taking this approach. look at crysis2. you can climb ledges of walls and slide on the ground. in bulletstorm you can also slide on the ground and knock enemies down.

i am fairly sure those games got their inspiration from brink. and that tells me it works. the times where theres an object 2 units too high to jump over are over. in a few months people probably ask themselfs, hell, why hasnt this been done before?
