Brink Clothing As DLC

(taodemon) #21

That is part of the problem, while I am willing to pay for maps personally, not everyone is. I´ve seen this happen in back ops. Local servers ran the first map pack for 3 days then stopped because not many people around here seemed to have bought it. Now with the large number of players still playing black ops this isn´t a huge issue overall but for brink on pc with its current under 1k users this could be a glaring issue.

They would probably have to increase the number of costumes, abilities, and attachments per DLC to make up for the lack of maps in them but you wouldn´t have to worry about splitting an already low playerbase. Plus, seeing someone run around with a DLC rocket launcher or dual wielding pistols would be a much better way to advertise your DLC than simply kicking someone from the server and pissing the off when a new map rotated in.

This is why I suggested a TF2 style approach where the maps come in content patches and everyone gets them while clothing (hats) come as microtransactions (or DLCs or mailorder or whatever). That way everyone gets to keep playing. Noone stops playing because the good maps are paid for and they can’t / don’t want to pay which means that the people who do pay money in have plenty of people to play against (and show off their bought costumes to).

They have to tread lightly with future dlc, especially with the dwindling player base. Microtransactions for cosmetics may net them more money thatn trying to make people cough up a chunk of money in one go.

How about clothing as real life purchasable clothing? Tweaked obviously for normal wear.

(Wraith_shadow) #24

personally one of the biggest selling points for me on this game was customization. I love it. more i can personalize my guy the better. But frankly once in game i found it to be a little lacking. I would love to add either more gear to customize my character, or more options weapons parts (as long as it was Aesthetic only) As it stands though, this game is fun, but not really worth the money for DLC. Kind of like L4D games minus Microsoft being greedy turds.

Sadly though i would completely compromise on free maps, updates, or stat altering things, but paying a small (and i mean fresh outta the pool small) transaction fee for themed packs. a hat and shirt it took one guy to make in a few days could sell for less then a dollar and still make hundreds of dollars afterwards.

I wouldn’t mind some brink inspired merch.
As long as it was balanced for comfort while retaining style.

Srsly though: I’d grab a shirt if it had something good on it. I’d even pick up a hoodie or jacket if it was good looking enough.

Themed maps would be cool with the Clothing part of the Themes. So Four Maps/Four Outfit Themes. It’d be cool to maybe have the following: Pimp, Hobo, Jump Suit (Orange), Bio Lab Hazard Suit, Mechanic, Country Specific Looks/Emblems. American Flag, British, etc.

or Class Specific Outfits.

I would rather it be more guns

The anger :penguin:
How about clothing as real life purchasable clothing? Tweaked obviously for normal wear.
I’d pay money for a real life pre-order Fallout security tee-shirt and beanie cap.

EDIT: The guy on the left (me):

I wouldn’t be willing to pay real money for virtual clothing honestly, simply for the fact that it’s aesthetic. Now, if it was something that affected the game, such as new maps or weapons, then yes, I most certainly would consider paying for it depending on what it was.

Agreed. Real life Brink merchandise would be pretty cool.

(Spendlove) #32

But would you wear it if it had brink Bethseda or splash damage written on it?

(zenstar) #33

I would wear it is it said “Brink” or “Splash Damage” somewhere on it.
I’d burn it if it said “Bethesda” anywhere on it.

And I’d rather get a shirt that had some catchy scene (the anger jumping? like the poster) but not if it was just the word “BRINK”. I like my shirts to have a little something to them. An Ark security shirt would be cool. That sort of meta shirt is nice.

(wolfnemesis75) #34

A shirt that said HACKER would be cool. Or GREASE MONKEY. BLOODDOWNER and GUNSLINGER.

(zenstar) #35

The class symbols would be cool. Ability symbols could work too.
Maybe even some objectives.

But they have a lot of art they could use. If you look at the sort of shirts you can get from the Valve store - something along those lines but brink themed. That’d be worth it.

Oh -> A picture of the escort dude on his knees on the ground with big text that says “Nechayev is down!”

back of shirt: “Get him back on his feet!”
revive symbol

(DarkangelUK) #36

A big blue X in a circle on the front and “BUFF ME BRO!” on the back.

(zenstar) #37

Haha! Awesome.

They could play with all sorts of things: Someone wall-jumping with the text “I’m SMARTer than you.”

A wifebeater top that says “I’m not skinny, I’m a light body type!”

A shirt that has a whole bunch of red splatter coming from the neck area with the cortex bomb symbol on the chest.

So many possibilities to play with. I’m sure proper graphic designers / clothing artists (whatever) could have a field day.

…Anything with an X on it would be rad…

(Spendlove) #39

Or ladies skinny rib tees with a great big “F” on the front.

Yes, I went there.

*hangs head in shame"

edit - this means nothing to Xbox or PS3 playaz!

(Spendlove) #40

But back on topic, yes lots more outfits please! I am not a massive fan of most of the Resistance ones :frowning:
